Default Hangar 9 - 1/4 Scale J-3 Piper Cub PNP

Any experiences with this model ?

I'm tempted on buying one but I would like to hear some experiences with this model first.

Thanks.

its amazing. i fly the 40 size from hangar 9 and my friend has the 1/4 scale. the 1/4 scale is gorgeous, lots of little details. functional bungees on the gear, the included pilot figure, the hinged door. flies beautifully, slow down to a crawl for very scale fly by's. he has the pnp version with the g20 gasser and its great!

I have one and it's great. I had it flying in about 2 1/2 hours. The engine runs great and flies it very scale. It's a blast to fly. I put a ton of flights on it at the Nall and had a ton of people asking about it. The new floats you can get for it bolt right on and work great, plus look as scale as you can get.

Did you get one? I've had mine since May and it's been a ton-o-fun! I am just about finished putting it on the floats...

Check out my gallery. Yep, I have it...and yes (as others have mentioned already) it is a total blast.

It has a tendency to vere left during taxi prior to lift off. It flies slow and lazy. I added negative expo (JR X9303) to pep up the response around null some. It had a tendency to react slow on the ailerons around null.

It looks and flies like the full scale version, not like a scale model!!

Have a great day!

I am sure by now you have your answer but I'll reply anyway. The open yellow gas line is the vent for the gas tank. Without this line being open, the carb would not be able to draw fuel from the tank. You would end up with a situation like placing your mouth over the end of a plastic bottle of coke, then trying to suck the coke out with no way for air to get in and displace the fluid.

You fill from the yellow gas line plugged with the fuel dot. Fill until some gas runs out of the open vent line. That way you know your tank is full.

Enjoy your cub!

thanks Smacka
The plane was shipped with the plug installed on the vent line not on the fill line and my plane did not have a fuel dot just two lines hanging down under the front cowl, I pulled it apart and got it working correctly , I also added a fuel dot while i was in there, the plane runs good thanks for the reply

Hi Andy, I had the same problem the fuel plug was on the wrong line as well. It seems someone at the factory must have there head up there you know what. But, I have to say itis a great flying and good looking cub.
