well the flight didnt go so well. 45 seconds in to the first flight i had a "spektrum lockout" and lost the plane :censored:

had just taken off got some altitude to trim it out. made a right, then was banking back left to come back over the runway, started my turn and noticed it was loosing altitude in the turn, figured i just had more expo on the elevs dialed in that i was used to, so gave it more more more then wigled the sticks and realized i didnt have control any more. throttle was locked at just above half. so i tried jimmying that stick wtih no responce but out of instinked closed the throttle. then it went behind the trees and i knew she was gone. but just after going behind the trees, i heard the throttle return to idle. so it "re-bound" and then 1 second later i heard the thud. it was a deep thud so i knew i hit ground or a house (subdivision right behind tree line). wasnt the distint amplified "pow" of hitting trees.

dad jumped in the truck and i jumped on the R6 and we headed of to the tree line.
after awhile of looking i heard dad yell he found it.

when i got there my first words were holy $#it it looks like the debree feild from the titanic wreck it was a trail of ply chunks 25' long. there were 4 large pieces and the rest of the plane was in scraps smaller than a business card

heres what we recovered. we looked for awhile but never could find the gas tank(full), throttle servo, or receiver pack, given they were all on the firewall, and there mass, im guessing the were like a projectile and flew well past the "wreck"

bummed i really wanted to get down and dirty with this thing at octoberfest

Looking for some info.
I am thinking about ordering the Extra 300 SHP 87" from 3DHS. Is this plane better at 3D or precision flying?

Thanks,

Thanks,
It does both really well. It is all in how you set it up and what kind of flying you are wanting to do.

I love my SHP, but there are better choices for IMAC.

I liked my EF Extra better for pure IMAC stuff. Overall, I like the SHP better as a plane but strictly speaking, for IMAC I liked the EF better. I found it easier to hold lines and control my speed. Just my $.02. I loved my SHP and will be getting a new fuse when they come in and have since sold my EF extra.

Well I'm gonna get to repairing my SHP. I need a couple of measurements from a fuse that's in one piece so if anybody's game...

Tip of the spinner to the wing LE
Wing TE to the Stab LE

Thanks in advance

[QUOTE=STANG KILLA SS;1280095]well the flight didnt go so well. 45 seconds in to the first flight i had a "spektrum lockout" and lost the plane :censored:

Really sorry to hear and see the TOTAL carnage. It really got nailed. I had a a similar lockout early in the year and has me wondering about the "spektrum lockout" and if it's really an issue to worry about. I sent the receiver and transmitter to Horizon for a checkup and they reported all was fine. I now think that my batteries may have not been up to snuff. They were 3 years old and that particular day I had already flown 3-4 flights. So even though the meter (non-load type) said the batteries were "charged" I'm wondering if they dipped during flight.
This year I saw a lot of similar events with Spektrum equipment at our field and wonder about their stuff some times. Rumour has it that lots of lockouts happened at Joe Nall this year with Spectrum, of course there was a very high percentage of Spectrum units there compared to the other 2.4ghz mfg. so who knows.

Again, sucks to lose a giant, sorry man,
Al
