I just eye ball mine. Then fly it and see if it is trimmed out. If it is not trimmed properly I land and make mechanical adjustments until I get it right.

Once I get it really close I might use radio trims but not until it is mechanically sound.

I am too cheap to be a swashplate-leveling tool when I can take 5 more minutes and do it on my own.

Good luck.

Take your ball link pliers and open them to get the large round cutout around the mainshaft. The mainshaft will be bigger than the cutout in the pliers but they will align squarely. Wrap a rubber band around the handles of the pliers then push the swash down to the jaws of the pliers and the pliers will level the swash..

You can also check the swash for level with your pitch gauge.
Just put the gauge on a blade, level the gauge to the fly bar, then check the pitch at all 4 90deg points, if the swash is off the pitch will be different at different points around the heli.
This method also works well to check for interaction on a eCCPM setup since it will work at all pitch settings.

Like Jeff said, easiest way is to slap a pitch gauge on and set it for zero and make sure it stays that way all the way around.

That said, a helicopter won't hover with the swashplate perfectly level, it needs some right cyclic to compensate for the thrust created by the tail rotor.
