Default OCMA/OCRCC Fun Fly Event-Video

Hi Guys,

Last week on Saturday 05-31-08 there was a Fun Fly event. Two clubs participated in this event OCMA and OCRCC. This was the first time we held an event at our club. We have lots of restrictions imposed on us by Irvine Company that owns our field and we need to abide by them or we will have a hard time finding a field if possible at all.

Anyway, the event was run by Ron Novak and very smooth I should say. Sam Wright from Scale Squadron helped us by announcing for us. For those of you that may not know Sam, he announces at events such as Top Gun and big Jet events of the country.

I rolled in around 10:45 and there were at least about 50-60 cars, trucks and trailers. I had never seen that many cars at our field. We had swap meet which was a huge success. True meaning of friendship and helping spirit. People were almost giving away stuff so someone else gets to enjoy it. A buddy of mine picked up a new 60 size plane with 4 digital servos/batteries and engine for $10. He said he asked how much seller wants for it. Seller asked him if he is going to fly the plane and enjoy it, he said absolutely. Answer was take it for $10. My friend said he thought he was joking!

Pilot raffle prizes were sponsored by Horizon Hobby. They gave us a very nice DX-7 full system radio. General raffles were sponsored by Hobby People and our local hobby shop Gyro Hobbies I think. I want to thank all of them for their generosity.

Toro, Flyin Brian, Don and I were demo pilots. Brian flew his 102” Zero and put on a great show. Toro flew his helicopter and boy I can never get use to heli 3D. It makes your head spin. You don’t know what to expect. Coming with speed of light to the ground and stopping on a dime! He did a great show. He is really into helis these days. Don flew an electric war bird, he also did great flying and show. People I mentioned except for Toro may not be members here. They don’t come online or I have no knowledge of it.

I flew my Python 100 with DA100 and was shaking to my knees. That comes from lack of practice, flying time and not having a program for occasions of such. I need to put a 3D flying program so I know what I want to do just like flying an IMAC sequence. I had a close call that you will see in the video.

I will post some pictures this evening. Here’s the clip of my flying that was not as good as I wanted to be. ://www.rcmodelaviator.com/Videos/FunFly.wmv
Hope you enjoy some of it. It was a great event and I want to Thank OCMA/OCRCC BOD for help putting such a great event together for us. I am sure next year will be even better.

Thank you,
Reza
