I am on my fourth major repair and it just flys better with each one,or maybe i just beat it alot more since it lost its new plane smell.

To be honest, 90% of the time I fly IMAC - I really dont have the crazy throws for 3D....the Katana has been good to me in the past year and this year so far in the Unlimited Class. Properly set up (which doesnt take a whole lot of effort) it flies very straight and true, and presents well in the air.

I have had three 39%'s, and they all came out below 39.25 lbs, with canisters, powerbox, Li-manganese batteries....4 servos in the tail, 2 on each aileron, and three in a rudder tray. My newest one came out to 38.5, maybe a hair over. By no means do they 'fly heavy'. These planes, if I am not mistaken, has the largest wing area of any 40% plane out there.

You will see quite a few more of them start to show up on the circuit.

Thanks,

At pepatrick's suggestion I got some hairspray, a tube sock, and a pine scented car air freshener, and made my own bellcrank for the rudder.

I had some bearings in the spares box so so its silky smooth and rock solid.

Looks great... keep us updated.

One question... what fiber glass compound you used to fix the wheel pants?

I just bought a GP Patty Wegstaff 1/4 Scale used and I need to make it loos good before I put it up.

The first hinges in the rudder are loose, how can I remove the other ones to replace them all and fix the problem?

Thanks for your help.

I'm using some light weight fiberglass cloth and z-poxy finishing resin.

What kind of hinges are they? One way to fix it would be to use a syringe and inject some gorilla glue into the side of the rudder right where the hinge is. Gorilla glue expands as it dries and will secure the hinges in place. Just make sure to put some vaseline (or equivalent) on the actual hinge point so it doesn't get stuck if you get a little glue on it. We've used this method before and it works really well!

Pin them after you inject a bit of polyurethane or epoxy resin. You'll never have to worry about them again.
