Another update. I did a little more glassing on the pants and cowl. While that was curing I turned to the wings. There's nothing wrong with the wings other than the servo arm slots looked like they were cut out with a spoon . So I taped them off and went in with the dremel and a sanding block to clean them up. They are a little bigger now than they need to be but at least they're straight. I also made up the extensions for the servos and installed them into the bays. I'll screw on the horns when I program the radio.

After I finished up the wings I worked on the stabs. Again, I had to clean up the servo slots and then I installed one of the servos. The mount for the second servo had chipped away a little on one of the mounting holes. So I repaired it with some 1/8th inch dowel and redrilled it, then installed the servo. I ran the extensions down the plastic tube inside the fuse using string, an old metal gear, and a magnet .

This is where things took a step backward. I installed the stabs and found that there is about a 1/16th gap in between the stabs and the fuse. Now, I really would like to replace the stab tubes but one of them was glued in place and wont come out. So I am thinking about pulling off the stab on the one side that isn't glued and using JB weld to fill up the ends of the two tubes. Then I'll reinstall the stab and drill and tap new holes for the bolts. Thats the plan anyway....

Once thats done I will take the cans out of the plane and use a template to cut more cooling slots in the bottom of the fuse.

Excellent rebuild you are doing Chris, I am sure all of your work will pay off when you get this thing in the air and flex your thumb muscles. I am fully in love with mine, and because of my Krill I have neglected every plane in the hanger. The Krill is just too much fun everytime I go out I find something I like more about it.
What ideas do you have for your graphic scheme? You definately have enough real estate to go crazy!

Thanks guys. I haven't put too much thought into the design yet. I'm hoping that once it is all together that inspiration will hit me. One thing I have thought off is putting a series of three white stripes on the bottom of the wings, starting close to the root and reaching about 3/4 of the way from the trailing edge up to the leading edge. Thats as far as I've got

Got the cooling slots done. I used a template that I had made when I put my edge together a while back and drew out the design on the inside of the fuse. I taped off the bottom of the fuse to prevent the paint from chipping/cracking and it also gives the dremel tool a little more resistance so you are less likely to go over the lines. About ten minutes worth of dremel'ing and sanding later and we have some nice cooling slots that will keep the heat out of the plane as well as look darn cool in the process

Matt you have no idea. I made that little brownie scout go crying home to mommy, but I did walk away with the rainbows.

Nice dremel work Chris! The bellcrank looks awesome too. I'm telling ya though, yellow paint on the rudder tray.....

The new parts are painted (still wet). Now I can start bolting everything in there. (Sorry Ryan, I was all out of yellow)
