Man, you should have been there. I've never seen anything like it..... Chris was like 3 feet off the deck in an inverted harrier when the engine starts to caugh then he somehow manages to flip the thing over - narrowly missing 6 Outlaws that were buzzing the runway when all of a sudden a crow landed on the cowl and took a dump that caused the plane to become nose heavy which then put too much stress on the landing gear when it landed.

Uh, it came that way....

No biggie, just another minor set back. Turns out the gear was punched through the fuse at some point and the repair was less than perfect. So I had to strip out the fuse to get to the gear plate so I could repair the repair job. Turns out this was the reason why the landing gear itself was twisted. Luckily I noticed this before rolling it out for the maiden.

Well I neglected to take pics before the repair, but here's a couple after the repair was finished earlier. I just finished coating the wood with epoxy to stop fuel and smoke getting at it, just needs a little paint and she'll be good to go.

Tiz done, got some flights on it today. They were just shake down flights so I didn't get crazy with it. Just as well really, the first flight I lost a wing bolt . After a few teething problems I got three flights in, it flew pretty good - tracks really well.

Now I will go back over everything and make up some graphics for it, and she'll be good to go.

Thanks to Jeff "Unbalanced" for his help (and suppplies!) in getting this thing ready, and for taking the pics attached

Thanks man, it flew great. Has a little knife edge coupling, but I'll mix that out. It's pretty slick and carries a lot of speed on the landing, will take a few flights to get used to it. Stall's were a non event, it didn't roll one way or the other, just kinda mushed down. Other than that it tracked like it was on rails, and felt pretty good overall. I'm excited to get it dialed in so I can start having some real fun with it

The problem with the wing bolt was that it vibrated right out, its a metal thumbscrew type bolt and in hind sight I should have probably put a little thread lock on there. I did on the next two flights and didn't have any more problems but they were a b**ch to unscrew! I'm going to replace them with cap head bolts and neoprene backed washers.

Good look with your maiden, let us know how it goes.

The plane looks great! That yellow really shows up well in that clear sky. Smoke looks good too.
