Default JR 8711, Fubaba 9152, Futaba 9156, Hitec 5955????

Now that they've all been out for a while, let's get a little discussion going on the experiences everyone is having.

I don't really think so. I've read all the previous threads and some people just interject JUNK, and a lot of it, hmmm? I'm curious about the 9156's. Not much has been said. Some people just had 20 or so flights on the 8711 when the ad nauseum was in process.

Please.. No JUNK. Just true life experiences.

Not really, it's usually just Hitec vs JR ad nauseum.

I'd leave the 9152 out on account of the non-standard servo splines. ETA: And the 9156 has better published specs all around than the 9152.

I have no issues with the 9156, but I'd hesitate recommending them to anybody until I had a season on them. So far, they ain't nothin' but sweet.

And Tower now has them listed as "Early June" instead of "Late June", so I'll be snagging a few more directly.

I have had the 9156's in a couple of my airplanes now and I am very happy with them. They center perfectly, have no slop, and have been very dependable.

And they're in.

You get an $8 discount for buying 2 at a time, and I have a $25 off a $199 order code, so with shipping they are $100.48 ea. I just order in batches of 2 and pay the $3.99 regular shipping.

I wonder what the gears of the 9156 are made of? I looked at the 9155 and 9156 output shafts side by side on my last install, and the color of the metal was different. The 9155 is bright shiny silver, where the 9156 is a duller grey color. At work, we fabricate from both aluminum and titanium, and the color differences are similar...but we order those materials and know what they are going in. Occasionally, we have a PMI test done on material to verify the metallurgy for a customer, I'd sure like to get the servo gears PMI'd and just see what they are. Come to think of it, I have some titanium barstock here at the house, but I can't remember what grade it was, it was for an aborted attempt at machining some parts that didn't pan out.

Has anybody ever heard what Futaba claims the gears are made of?

I'll snap some pics when this last batch of 9156 get here (I have 9155 on hand).

The 7955's hitec's are not any different than the 5955's accept the 7955's have a little faster resolution,, I personally like the 5955's over the 8711's for the reason, I can program the 5955's and they have the strong durable gear train,, not to say that the 8711's don't but they have not been proven to long yet,,

The new 7955 has a different motor than the 5955, so as they hit the field, then we will see if they are any different.

Have you all looked at the Futaba brushless servos, BLS351 and BLS352? Nice specs, quieter, smoother, and suppose to last longer.
