Default DA 100 NEW LITE VERSION OR OLD VERSION

On the 15th of May 08 i placed an order for the New lite version of DA 100 from chief aircraft.
To my surprise i received what seems to me as the old version of the DA 100 with a serial number 5517.I conducted Cheif aircraft and they said that it is not possible that they have sent me the old version as they have only received the new version from D.A.They said to me that maybe DA is using the old casing for the new version. Is this possible?

I would contact DA directly and ask them, then you would know for sure. I know it may cost you for the call but it would be worth it to me if it were my engine. Hope it all works out for you, I'm sure DA doesn't want their reputation hurt.

The Carb should be bolted thru a RED carb-block on the New version.
The Carb is mounted to part of the aluminum body on the OLD version. ( 6 oz. savings)

Yup easiest way to tell. New has the red carb block, and the old one is mounted to the aluminum body on the old DA.

Its not possible. If your engine does not have the red reed block then it is the older Version. The crank case between the two is totally different. Also the serial numbers for the new 100 started at 0001 and were up to about 0300 right now so going by the serial number in your post you have the older version 100.

It's things like this that make this hobby stink somtimes, someone totally shafted by a dealer and then when caught up in it they don't want to take the blame for it. How stupid can you be (Chief Aircraft) thinking that you could pass your old inventory off as new, if my memory serves me right they were sticking it to people somewhat on the TOC planes about a year or so back! If I were DA if would refuse to sell to someone like this that will not stand behind their word, we all work hard for our money and thinking we can spend it in confidence that we are getting what we pay for and someone that will stand behind what they sell. Cheif Aircraft owes someone a new up to date engine, period, it's not DA's fault!!!!!! Also if they tell you to return it for a refund don't let them stick it to you with the garbage about a "restocking fee", they should pay shipping both ways and get you the engine you paid for.

I understand your frustration, luv2fly, and original poster. If I were told that I was getting a new version of a product, or if I ordered a product under the informed assumption that it was the updated version, and I didn't get it, I'd say that I would be rather ticked off!
Here is the real kicker in the deal. I HIGHLY doubt that Chief will pay the shipping cost for you to send it back to them from Dubai, so you'd be out that cost, as well as the waiting time. So you are in a pickle!
Here's what I would do - be satisfied in knowing you have a proven, high performance engine in your hands. Sure, it's a tad heavier, but it's still a powerhouse. Enjoy it, and NEVER do business with Chief aircraft again.
If the extra hassle and cost is worth the 6 ounces, then you already know what you have to do.

You are absolutely right. The cost to send it back to the U.S.A and the long wait are not worth the 6 ounces.I will keep the engine. However you expect from a big company like Chief aircraft to at least offer to replace it.Something which they have not done.
Thanks a lot guys for your support.
