Default BEWARE OF CA MODELS

Guys, I am writing in behalf of a friend of mine.

Last December, he ordered a 45% Edge ARC Version (link to plane: http://www.camodel.com.ar/modelos/Ed...dge540_eng.htm) from Marcelo Culombo at CA models down in Argentina. They're now available through Netbox in Miami, but back then they were only available through Argentina.

He was instructed to pay half of the kit up-front, then the other half sometime before the plane was finished (they don't stock the ARC's, so they're made to order). He made that second payment sometime in January and was told that the plane was almost ready. During that month and the next one (February) he tried calling to no avail. No one would pick up and he didn't know what the status with his plane was.

March rolled on by, and one day my friend got a call from CA models saying the plane was ready to ship and that they would send it in the next boat available. That was the last my friend heard of them for a WHILE. Marcelo gave my friend no info on the plane, no tracking number, NOTHING. My friend had to call the freight company here in Puerto Rico at least weekly to ask if they had gotten a big crate from Argentina, but they never did. April went by, May went by. He must have called and left more than 35 messages and about 20-30 emails in this timeframe.

It wasn't until about 2 weeks ago that he got a call from the freight company, who said that the crate had not been shipped. It was still down in Argentina supposedly because of a "lack of info". Now for these past 2 weeks, my friend has done the usual, email them almost everyday, try calling everyday and leaving messages. Absolutely no response. He's trying to either get the plane on his way here or cancel the order and get his money back. It has already been 6 months since he ordered the plane and it is not looking good. He's pretty sure that his $1,800 have been stolen.

I'll keep you guys informed if something happens but try to stay away from them.

Well Vic this is not the first time i am hearing from the CA model i remember some one who ordered a lot of genesis F3A models from them & some of the models stab were warped & the company didnt replace it you all know how expensive F3A models are... & this is the kind of service you get from CA...how frustrating it is for the customer.

That sucks. But no it doesn't surprise me. We will try to get through to them through another distributor on Monday. I'll update if anything happens.

I was thinking of getting a 38% Extra from them sometime in the future. Those plans are dead now.

$1800 sure is cheap for a 45%er even in arc form. But that doesn't mean they can jag around like this.

i hope this issue gets resolved for you satisfactorily. my only experience with CA is the Eclipse i had for years. i absolutely loved it and i know you will find that the plane will fly MUCH better than the service you have received (so far). good luck.
ps
threads like this are VERY informative and i applaud you for speaking your mind. many other consumers need to know this stuff prior to sending out that kinda $jack$!

Call Luiz in MIA he has one ARC 45% coming un- sold and all of the ARF's are sold.
