I'm happy to find this site! I'm currently building a 1/3 scale model, so hopefully, I'm a future giant flyer.
By the way, is there a definition of just what a "flying giant" is? AmpAce |

A "Flying Giant" is someone who pushes their plane to the max, and has fun with the hobby.

Size matters. The size of you flying spirit and passion matter more than the size of the plane. That is what a FG is.
So be the mouse that roars!!!! BTW, Smokin, that is a funny post and really true. You are now the smiley king!!!!!

To me a "FlyingGiant" is someone that pushes both himself and his aircraft beyond his previous limits.

Wow, what a response!
Thanks to all of you, for the warm welcome! I'm currently building a 1/3 scale Piper Super Cub from a Balsa USA kit. It will be a model "bush plane", complete with bush wheels, (if I can ever find any way to replicate them), and a "climb" prop. It's quite a project. I've been working on it for over a year, and still have a long way to go. Hopefully, it will be flying by this time next year. Smokin, I hear you, I think you hit the nail on the head. Stinger1, and 50%plane, I must fit the description then, because I seem to spend a lot of time repairing the results of "pushing the envelope", and I do immensely enjoy this hobby! Alfycat, I can also relate to that dream, and with the kind of enthusiastic attitude you seem to have, I'm sure you'll make it! JimC-MD, I can afford to be more passionate in flying smaller, (read cheaper), planes. I am much more conservative with the bigger, better ones. TonyC, Kim, Sp33d, VKGT, Thanks a bunch! I also belong to a couple of other r/c forums, and feel that I spend too much time on them. This one is fascinating, though, and I'll try to get back here regularly. AmpAce |
