Default QQ YAK KNIFE EDGE SPIN

I've had about 20 flights on my QQ 102" YAK in the past few weeks, and Im really beginning to enjoy it.

However, one maneuver is giving me conniptions.

All my other GS planes (35% CAPS and 33% Laser) can be easily put into a Knife Edge Spin.

Drill is vertical upline....push over top...full LR/DE/LA at 3D rates. Adjust throttle for speed of spin. Do it left or right.

I have tried every combination of rates and entry that I can think of, but the YAK just wants to go into a high speed inverted spin, although I caught it right one time, but I cant duplicate.

Any suggestions.

I am thinking the CG may have to be moved back further, although I like how the plane flies now at about midrange for the CG.

TIA
Ira

Ira,

It is not your CG. It is the rates. See Edge and Caps would KE spin as you describe but Yak requires less down elevator and aileron. You have to adjust for that. It is not as easy as cornering the sticks and that's because you have an extremely effective elevator and aileron on the Yak.

Thank you,
Reza

We'll, I did try it several times in low rate E and A, but I'll try it again with smaller defelections.

Thanks, Reza

I have had that high speed spin when trying a ke spin. I have found some planes will drop into the ke spin just by bumping the rudder over the opposite direction and then back to the original spot.
