Default Krill Yak, A123 Batteries and 8711s..

Im building out a Krill Yak...it will have 8 8711s and 1 8611a (throttle ..and because I bought it very cheap)...Guidance will be the new JR R1222 receiver and preferrably A123 batteries. I am using a 2300 pack on the ignition (with blessings from DA)..and need opinions on the receiver packs...Is 2 x 2300 packs enough..or should I look at the 4600 packs..I really want weight to be low (36 lbs)..I also may have to add a couple of 8711s (2 on each half) to the stabs if 1 is not enough..the Krill Yak has massive stabs..and servos locations are very inboard..and outboard..

Hi pepatrick,

Great gear you are about to install on you big bird.
I too purchase the new 2.4 JR 9, switched from my old Futaba 9cap

The 2300 batteries for the receiver are very good and they can last for at list 5 flights before charging them again, i use on my 37.5% yak two Fromeco 2300 A123 batteries too.
As for the stabs...if you are about to do extreme 3D maneuvers i think that you will prefer to use two servos per elevator, if it for IMAC and some nice 3D stuff then one 8711 will be enough.
If you are using A123 batteries, install the new Kodiak switch. i have two of them on mine and they really help knewing your batteries status!
I have seen this bird fly in the hands of Mark Lessberg and i must say that she fly awesome!

Good luck,

Adi

Thanks for the input..I cant wait to get this thing in the air..I think with this configuration..the DA-150 will pull it like rocket. I am thinking that this thing will be around 36 pounds..maybe less.

I am running dual 2300's through the 9100, powering 8, 8711's, a digital throttle servo, and ignition kill. I burn about 500 +/- 50ma per flight. I don't have any switches - I just charge after every flight so I don't have to worry about it.

I was running the same setup in my ML300... IMAC only plane with 12.5 minute flights. I was easily going 5 flights and the packs were still both 6.6-6.5 volts.

I flew 5 flights and charged. Most times I go to the field I don't fly more than 5 anyway.

I do not want to start a new topic, but what do you guys think about 2 1200's in a typical 30% plane (4xhitec 945MG, 5955 and 5245). Another one would go for the ignition.

I dont see a problem with that..I am running a single 2300 pack in a EF 88" Yak...5955s all over..I am getting 6 flights..and then some..I am using a single 1100 A123 pack on the ignition...

The 150 will pull it great, but you can always try the new 170.

Patrick I have almost the set up on my Compy 3.0 Yak . 9 x 5955 plus one other low end digi on the throttle and I seem to pull about 150 - 200 mha per batt for a ten min flight . So the power supp should be able to do 5 flights befor a re-charge . I have not pushed the batts that far as yet but the data (my data) says I should be able to do it .

My batts are the 10C type LiFePO4 not the branded A123 the only diff is the C rating and they are both 2300 mha .
