Hey CSpaced, what do you use for a vent? Can you post a pic or something?
Thanks

This pic is from my old Extra, I used a zip tie to hold the vent line in place. Once the cowl was bolted the line was pretty well hidden. I also did something similar on my Cap, but instead of a zip tie I used a landing gear strap (the small plastic strap that goes across wire landing fear).
On my Edge I actually used a slimline fitting that is normally used for fueling. Check out the link for something similar. The only problem is that anything that came out of this would streak down the bottom of the fuse. Looked good though ![]() http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXRRD1&P=7 |

CSpaced, thanks for the idea about the vent. I'm going to use the Du-Bro Fill it Fueling System similar to that one from Slimline. Hopefulyl today I'll connect the throttle, and start to create the housing for the fuel tank.

Check out this pictures... I started to remove wood that was just glued in several spots and I want to remove some more even. I did change the location of the throttle servo and I'm going to use a short link to the throttle arm for the DL-50. I'm putting heavy duty ball links in both places and the choke will be done by hand. Last pictures is from Scott's 3DHS Katana 50cc and I got the throttle and choke idea from there. At this moment I'm not so worried about the CG because I still have those batteries to put away and the receiver. I'm hoping they will go in the tail side already. I'm getting some problems how to secure my fuel tank. I'm out of ideas... I want to bring it out but now to secure it if I don't have much room to work with and the access is super hard. Ideas guys? |

yes the access is hard, not much room to get your hand in and work. I built a platform that has a tonge on the front that hooks onto the former behind the firewall. The rear of the platform is screwed to a bracket that is attached to the former just ahead of the wing tube. It puts the tank a little ahead of the c of g, but it works for me. I have seen guys that have made a platform that sits on the wing tube putting the tank right on the c of g.
Also be sure to drill and pin your firewall with dowels or put on some metal angle brackets for re-enforcement like the Kantana. They don't have to go on the inside like in the pic. They can go on the outside edge as well. |

UPDATE!!!
I met a good experience friend at the field and he confirmed some of my ideas and gave me other ideas how to make everything the best I could. I decided to cut the engine mount in the top and bottom for clearance purposes so I can tight stuff up better. We decided about the fuel tank (see pictures). I came home and cutted a nice piece of plywood with the shape I needed. now I want to secure the fuel tank, do all the tygon tubing necessary and start to pull out that tube to future engine link. I will have a vent and another separate for filling. I'm going to apply a switch to the ignition but when setting up I must be sure I can kill the engine at least with the trim. My friend gave me another hint to remove the most weight I could just because we're dealing with a heavy model. I removed what I could and was just not necessary. Looks good

Hey guys, close to the end...I hope!!!
![]() The fuel tank is in, and because of the tight space available I used some fishing wire to pull my tygon tubing to where I wanted (see pictures). I didn't yet weight the part of wood that I've removed from this model but hopefully tomorrow I will and I'll post how much did this baby lost in weight. As someone said here "... you have to put it on a diet!!!" well... it did went on a diet. I noticed that my elevator and rudder deflection angles were small and so I got some Du-Bro extensions and replaced them. Maybe I'll do the ame for the wings... need to see how much I'm getting now. This evening I pulled the receiver antena towards the tail and it should be fine there. Tomorrow I want to put the engine back on, start linking everything as it should be and soon I'll have this baby ready for the first run. I'll try to keep you guys updated. Thanks for all your ideas.
