Default Quique Python Perfect CG

Hey fellas,

I've had a few people ask me about the CG on the Python with the Tru Turn spinner, so I figured I'd share my results for a more neutral CG. I found the recommended install/set-up to be too nose heavy for my liking.

My set-up:

DA-100 (classic)
DA mufflers
Tru Turn 4.25 P-51 spinner with lightened back plate
Xoar 27x10 prop
2600 li-ion (ignition)
2 x 5600 li-ion (rx)

My set-up is exactly as described in the manual (rx batteries under turtle deck), but my ignition battery was moved from the nose to where my rudder servo is. Now the plane feels much more responsive.

After you moved the ignition battery back, did you "re-balance" the plane with the finger-tip method? The rest of us can copy your setup if we know where your balance point is. It would be interesting to see how much moving the battery changed the balance point.

I have not flown mine yet, but my setup is similar to yours. The main difference is that I will be using a carbon fiber spinner (which I would guess only saves a couple ounces) and a Menz prop (that I bet weighs about the same as yours).

I have been thinking about moving my throttle servo back as well.
