Default Aeroworks 42% Extra 260 servo wing location

I am putting together an Aeroworks 42% Extra 260 and plan on using two Hi-tech 7955 servos for each wing. My question comes in regards to the wing location for the two servos? Aeroworks provides for three servos, one located on the root, center and wing tip section. I have read on some 3 meter Comp arf forums that recomend putting the servos in the root and center sections and not out on the wing tip section. However, when I contacted Aeroworks they recommended to put a servo in the root and in the wing tip section and leave the center servo section empty. I would appreciate feedback on your thoughts.

Thanks,

I would go with Aeroworks's suggestion.

Number 1: They manufacture the airplane.

Number 2: Seems like the set-up to go with to have less aileron flex.

I have two friends, both flying the Aeroworks 42% Extras, both using 5955s, two per aileron. One at the root, and one in the middle and don't have problems with aileron flex. It also helps them to snap cleaner. It stops the snap a little quicker without the added weight out on the wingtip. You can mount one at the root and one in the middle. It'll be fine. Those ailerons are pretty stiff. If you don't care about the little difference in the snap characteristics (it is minimal), mount one at the root and one at the tip. It's your call. You'll be fine either way.

By the way Worm, my 260 is pretty much ready. I'm bringing it over to let Jonas give it a look over Thursday or Friday. Same servo set up as y'alls. I need fresh eyes to give it a go/ no go. Should be flying this weekend.

Thanks for the info. It is helpful to know that I can go with either setup.

I'm doing root and center with 8711's and flying strictly IMAC - no problems to date.

I have done both, I started with the root and the tip. then I moved the tip to the middle with the reason, mass to the center ( really 2.75 oz moving at from the outer to middle). I am not totally convinced that this is the best set up. If it would ever stop raining enough to get more time on this configuration. I thought I saw the tip fluttering and just keep talking myself into "i was just seeing things", so I want to have my buddy watch with some binoculars to see it the tip flutters. I know in construction when lifting large amounts of weight we come in on third the way on each end and the 2 thirds in the middle balance out , we would never lift from the center, and one end. I am personally convinced that the 5955 (2 per aileron) is not enough, after having the outer one go bad and 3 on the rudder feeling weak. I figured this would be a good time to switch out servos (5955 for 9156 ) and try the middle opening. the 9156s defiantly give it more of that locked in feeling. I am tired of recoving holes but maybe the root and the outer are the best. Nothing against hitec i have tons of them. but this is 42% i suggest the 9156 or 8711. comp arf's design and the built up design are apples and oranges and cannot be compared.

I am going with two 8711's on my 37.5 yak(121in)(2854wa) instead of the three recomended. Installed them in the root and the tip locations. Went with the strongest std size servo though to make up for the lack of two. 9156's would work as well. Havent flown it yet but calculate good results. On the flip side, i have seen "many planes demise", pondering the 2 instead of 3 setup after the fact, wondering if it had somthing to do with it. I know if i use 3 per wing i should be able to give er hell with less or no flex, but something human about me cant resist the temptation of flirting with disaster, in the interest of scientific discovery of course.

the field was dry enough to get several flights with my buddy watching through binoculars and said he could not see any wing tip flutter. So I 'll leave them this way.
