*repost from nitro forums*
Seagull extra 260 (90), Edge 540 (60), Yak-54 (90), Ultimate (90) Im looking into buying one of these models but I am unsure as to which one. Does anyone have any recommendations as to which. It will be my 3rd plane, Ive gone from a high wing to a low wing aerobatic trainer and have been working on basic IMAC figures (that is the direction I want to head in). I just want a plane that will be able to do whatever I grow in to in the next year or so. (also I want it to be fun to fly and capable of being thrown around a bit and look good :P ) Any help would be great. comments on Seagull models in general would be nice too ![]() *edit* lets throw in the Ultimate too, Ultimates are IMAC legal yes? (I am aware I dont need an IMAC legal plane for beginner level too :P But I want one )

Bottom line, buy what you like. Seagull make a pretty good ARF IMO. Want to do great at IMAC basic next year?? Buy a 60 sized pattern plane and practice a lot.

I would go with Yak - 54 (90), but I would use Webra 1.20. it is light engine with lot of power.

I've owned and flown many Seagull models, and I've never been disappointed. Good construction, great fliers, good prices, etc.
Out of the ones you've listed, I'd recommend the Edge or the Extra. The Edge is a solid, great performing plane that can handle pretty much anything... make sure you go overboard on the power though

Yeah I was gunna put an OS120 in whichever one I get.
I love Biplanes, but no one seems to recommend the Ultimate, is there a reason for that?? The Extra seems to get the most votes. Is there a vast difference to the way that these plane shapes handle? |

And are you talking about a 2 stroke or 4 stroke 1.20? The Edge performs great with a Saito 1.25, and I'm sure a 1.20 2-stroke would be a good amount of power for IMAC maneuvers. I run a TT 1.20 on my heavy 6' Cap and it has unlimited (VERY unlimited) vertical.
