thanks for the heads up. I need to buy a meter anyway so I will pay close attention to the incidence when building. cant wait.

There are a lot of people that check out the Turnigy motors from Hobbyking. Personally, I don't really like/trust them that much, a lot of issues with the glued magnets in the rotor/stator, or the bearings that are loose, but there are a lot of people who've had a very positive experience with these budget motors, so I would say, look for yourself Their Lipo's though, Zippy's, are great for lighter planes!

Check this motor out. I fly it in both my PA Extra 260 and PA Katana. It is a little heavier than the thrust motor but for me all that means is I dont have to jam my batteries way up into the motor box to get it to balance. The Katana is an excellent flyer and the 260 was the best electric plane I had ever owned until I got their Extra MX. As previously posted all of their planes fly great as long as you take your time and build them well.

Tower hobbies is having a sale of these hoffman motors. They are made in the USA. I bought four of them. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...P?&C=GHG&V=HMI. For the extra I would use the hmi 490 1140KV. Should give you 450 watts.

I've got a PA Extra 260 I bought at SEEF 3 years ago (South Eastern Electric Flyin, Ga.).
I must say it's an amazing plane to fly.

BUT...
This plane has the WORST wing rock and tip stall!!!
I've straightened the trailing edge of the ailerons (was really bad from factory).
Added "up" on both ailerons until 1/2 the wing rock quit (about 1/4" higher than the wing, at servo zero). Note: This has helped more than anything else I've tried!

One of the ailerons was very poorly made at the factory, and protrudes downwards at the wing-tip, creating drag on the bottom of the right wing.
But the guys at PA assured me it wouldn't effect flight! Yea right!!
I also added wing-tip stabilizers (foam disks, in the same shape as the wing-tip, but 3/8"-1/2" bigger, and screwed onto the end of the wing-tip. This was done to help keep the wind from falling off the wing-tips in a harrier. This seems to help quite a bit!)

I've about given up on the plane flying like the others I see in the video's...

If anyone has any fixes they would recommend, I would appreciate it!
I would love to get this plane straightened out for 3D flight!

I could never think about getting as close to the ground as ozhover3's video shows him doing.
The plane looks very stable... Mine isn't...

Thanks guys!

Yes these airframes are wing rock city. I had one a few years ago and hated it... I tried learning 3d with it but it wasn't happening, so I switched to 3d hobbyshop and haven't looked back and probably will never look back.. The trick to these planes is an extremely high AOA witch isn't easy if you're a beginner 3d pilot like I was. I think the design is poor and flight characteristics even poorer ie LOTS of ke coupling, and a round le instead of a sharp one to break lift. I'm sure your plane is fine, but the transition from flying to stalled is very poor witch will make the wings rock something terrible. Something I just thought of is to tape a small diameter dowel (probably a 1/8" or 3/16" dowel) to the leading edge of the wing to break the lift sooner. Sounds weird, but it might just work. Also make sure your rudder is straight not warped as the rudder affects wing rock directly. Hope this helps.

Guys when the 260 is correctly setup there is no wing rock at all... check this video i did of the 260 recently, it is a very capable airplane, very fun to fly!

I've had my 260 now for two years and I love everything about it. I've had no wing rock or cg problems.Mine has the 2818T900 torque motor on it, seems to work well for me. I wouldn't be afraid to order a motor and esc from hobby king, I've had good luck with their stuff. I wouldn't scrimp on servios, I used the hitec HS65MG.I fly mine with the battery as far back as I can get it. When I fix my next one I'll install the rudder servo in the tail.

Aerofundan is right!
Correct setup IS the key.
(great video!)

That's the problem with mine, the plane was so badly constructed from the factory that I would have to take the right aileron apart from the wing to staighten it out (not sure how to do that without permanent damage).
Both aileron's were twisted and warped really bad from the box.
I'm sure the wings are the same, but I don't know how to check them.
The rudder was also warped along the trailing edge (the hot-iron can only do so much! I should just open the covering and replace some of the warped sticks).

I do have a question for you guy's.
Are the items at most of the flying events the dealers sale, 2nd's? (Not the best, rejections for some imperfections at the factory?)
Just wondering...

I like the plane, just like to get it straightened out.

Thanks!

Love mine, awesome flying airplane for precision or 3D. I powered mine with a Eflite 25 with a 2200 4cell swinging a APC 13x6.5. Yes i had to do some custom work to the firewall and a couple other mods. But had no problem getting it balance perfectly. Final weight was 2lbs 10oz. The power to weight is crazy
