Wayne, this is off topic but since it concerns points ill ask since your here, there was something noticed this morning as to our region points on our NC site.....the Canadian NATS counts points towards the points for our region, why does our NATS not count ? Someone asked me and I didnt know so thought I would ask.
Thanks. |

Dan, I'll weigh in on the Canadian side. Yes a bid to have the Canadian Nat's included was made successfully last year and carried through to '08. The Nat's replaced a contest that was on the regular circuit (RC400). "We" thought that having it as part of the NC circuit would encourage American participation and I have to say I believe it was successful in doing so. From the IMAc site. "The AMA Scale Aerobatics NATS may count as one of the out of region contests." So from that I would say the US Nat's also counts and anyone that flew there can use their placement there in their own home region... and rightly so... it's a sanctioned event, it should indeed count. Rick

Cool deal Rick, I think some of the U.S. guys came up there last year, we would like to make it sometime, it wont be anytime soon though but would be a really neat trip !
Didnt know as on the IMAC website it doesnt list the NATS as one of our contests on the contest page. How you been Rick ? Was good to meet ya last year at Wheeler, we just got back from the NATS, had a bit of bad luck on the last day though. Hope to see you at Wheeler again this year. |

Likewise Dan, Maybe I was unclear. The Canadian Nat's this year are up at Sudbury, replacing the normal comp there, and the RC400 contest is back on as a regular NC contest For me the US Nat's and Tucson are really hard to justify for cost and time. Read about the mishap. Seems to be becoming a theme at the larger contests (rushing to get pilots in the air) in combination with the ACS encouraging us to keep it tight. More planes in a tighter airspace is not a recipe for airplanes staying intact. I've witnessed 3 in eight months, at competitions, and now the US Nat's makes a forth. The cost is one thing but man the safety aspect... for me my first mid air will likely end my flying. Don't think I could handle it. Consider trying to make it to some of the comp's over here. Rumor is we even have beer in the great white north! The Chatham contest is only 1 hour from Detroit. Yes so far Wheeler is on the radar.

NATS results listed on www.mini-iac.com only include finalists. Does anyone have results before the final so that I can include this contest in the TAS point standings?
Thanks!
