I am anxious, I have done well in the South Central District winning at least three so maximizing my opportunity for points but 7 pilot contests puts me around 24th in points.

In sportsman , there were guys getting 30+ points at a contest where my max was 21.

Buggers.... just sent in the application and money and cross my fingers!

I am just like you! I started almost 3 years ago now with a Avistar trainer. I am flying sportsman. I am looking forward to my first competition with my new Dalton. The first one that it completes anyway. Yep, this will be my first TAS if I make it! I flew a competition this last weekend to try to get some more points. I may be in 12th or 13th, so hopefully I make it in.

I was hoping they would change the entry this year.

I always felt whoever was #1 in each region at the shootout entry deadline should get an auto invite. That way it doesn't matter what your points are due to number of pilots. Also brings being an IMAC member into the picture as you would have to be one to have the status of being number one.

From there they still use the point system that is in place to fill the remainder of the slots and of course I realize that most #1 pilots in the regions may not be able to attend or wish to not attend. They then just simply go down the list like they do now and take the next highest points into each empty slot.

Of course this was only a suggestion on my part. I wish I had the time off work to go this year or let alone make enough contests to have the chance to go.

Sweetpea, I understand. I am currently in the top spot in the SE, and could be left out of the shootout. But it is what it is.

we do take into consideration that top pilots in each region may not be in the top ten in national points. The pilots in the northeast especialy because of when there season gets started due to weather. I hope that if anyone that had intentions of flying in the shootout sent in there intent to register form and pilot worksheets. We should be annouceing pilots on the 12th.

Someone that's been at the Shootout a few times told me something that if you're Nr. 1 in your region they look at that and let you in regardless of point standings. But it's not in the selection process rules and I don't know if it's a sure thing or not. I totally agree about Nr. 1 in each region being automatically in. You have to make quite a few contests to get Nr. 1 regional so that's a lot of work in itself.

Thanks Tony.

My suggestion has always been send your money in and see. But to KNOW ahead of time in the rules that this applies and to be able to put that on your application can let you know further out you are in and can help plan for fuel costs/transpo costs/hotel accomadations etc etc etc.

Good luck to all those who get in~

I am like 16th in the national and 1st in Sportsman in the NW region. Same thing, not as many pilots so not as many points. I don't think our last contest has been added yet (kevin must be busy). May change things a little. Thx WOOD. The site says pilot list on the 19th, but the 12th would be great!!! One less week of agonizing right guy's!!! Hopefully, we all get in. It would be great to get a chance to meet every one of you. Good luck to all!!

I think that the rules actually state that they leave the final decision up to them, not just points.
I am fine with the process, I understand you can't please everyone, I just hope I get a chance to experience Tuscon.

sorry guys. If the website says the 19th then they must have pushed it back a week. I know everyone is anxious and need to start making plans and reservations.

Does anyone know if Kevin is still going to be posting the updated standings?? Is he OK or maybe just real busy? It would be cool to see where we all came out while we're waiting for the pilot list to be announced. Can you tell, I'm jones'n for anything TAS. LOL. & I'll bet there are a few more out there just like me.

PS: I have been just too busy with work. I haven't flown for two months. :-( I am sorry that I didn't have a chance to update the list in a timely manner as your guys expected.
