If you're looking to reverse engineer the system so you can produce and sell a clone, why not just buy a Spektrum radio?

802.11 is a standard.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11

And cypress makes programmable wireless controller chips that can be used in 802.11 applications..

http://www.cypress.com/products/?gid...ategoryID=All&.

If you look at the datasheets it explains the applications.
