Default JR Data Transfer

Hope this helps someone.
I recently purchased the datasafe for my 9303 2.4, ran setup.exe on my Vista machines which does not automatically start but must be manually clicked on in My Computer or choose Explore files to find it.
After the setup finished I plugged in the interface and window was unable to find the drivers for it...I searched the CD and it was not to be found.
It is in fact unpacked to Program folder and can be found in/under the JR Propro program folder.
Works great after that.
btw the instruction make no mention of this that I could see.

Hi Andrew, is that the Data safe or PC transfer that you have.

I did not know this product was out there as I have not seen it at our JR dealer in Australia.

I noticed the Data transfer has a USB interface and the Data safe has a serial port.

Do you know what the difference is in the programs?

Regards, Cookie.

I think the only difference is the interface

Link to it here http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=JRPA310

Looks like you spend $40 for a serial port adapter with the datasafe

So................ Does anybody need a NIB Data SAFE? I just happen to have one that went to a three year old 10X and I was never into doing much in the way of loading stuff to my PC or laptop from my radio. I opened it a few minutes ago and was surprised to find an interface that goes on a serial port. I've got a year old HP Media center PC m7160n computer that doesn't even have a serial port. (Everything is USB related on this PC and can't even remember that far back!) I saw a new Data TRANSFER at the LHS and I'm wanting to see one in use before I even think I need it! Anybody that has an older PC and wants one, I'll make ya a real deal on it. PM me.
WT

The original DataSafe was actually made by a third party software company. All it could do was store a file on a PC. You couldn't view it, you couldn't print it or do anything with it. DataSafe 2 had some changes to the interface going to a 9 pin serial port connector from the original 25 pin serial port connector. I believe you also could not use the newer DataSafe 2 software with the original 25 pin serial port interface. There was also an Ultra DataSafe version that was ONLY for the 10X transmitters. There was a seperate program for the Heli transmitter and another for the Airplane transmitter. Both were NOT included in the $400 purchase price (or was it $300?). However, at least with these programs you could view the data, print it and even program with it.

The new Data Transfer program also has 2 "flavors". The one you can buy with work with both versions of the 9303 and 10X. The other version comes with the new 12X and only works with it. Why they can't just make one program for all is beyond me. Unfortunely this leaves the 8103 users out in the cold as the old DataSafe program worked with it but not this new version. Also the new Data Transfer program appears to have several bugs in it as reported as odd setting numbers displayed or the opposite label from what is in the Tx. It also might be hard to install in Vista but several people have gotten around that. So as with lots of software, not quite ready for primetime but works after a fashion.

Got the printing to work by printing as a XPS document, turning interleave on under advanced document settings and minimum compression, then when document viewer opens it, print to the printer.
Seems there are a few bugs in translation to printers.
As far as Vista it installs fine just asks a lot of questions as far as user permissions.
Dont know why it couldnt work for all types of transmitters if they wanted it to, it aint anything special as far as software goes.
Dont know how it works with XP, will have to try it next.
