ATTENTION! THIS IS LAST YEAR'S EVENT POST! I WILL BE POSTING THE NEW ONE TONIGHT OR TOMORROW! THIS WILL NOW BE AN ANNUAL EVENT AT THE SAME TIME EVERY YEAR - MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!
SO, THE DATES THIS YEAR ARE MAY 22, 23, 24. THERE WILL STILL BE FLYING ON MONDAY (MEMORIAL DAY) IF YOU WANT TO STAY THROUGH THEN AS WELL, BUT THE OFFICIAL DAYS ARE FRI, SAT, & SUN.

I'd like to invite everyone to the West Alabama Aero Modelers July Fun Fly on July 12th and 13th (Sat. and Sun.) at the WAAM flying site in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

The format will be Giant Scale (any type plane) on Saturday with participation by the Extreme Aerobatic Club bunch (so there will be plenty of HUCKIN' ) and Sunday will be Open Flying.

Pilots Fees will be $20 for both days, which includes lunch on Sat.
Sat. only flying $15, which includes lunch.
Sun. only flying $10, no lunch.

Our flying site has recently undergone an EXTREME makeover (year long process), which included moving our runway, etc. further to the north, which pretty much doubled our flyover area, which was already remarkable. It's basically a HUGE hay field.
Our Club House is a pre-fab block/concrete building that has power, water, A/C, and Air Conditioned Men's and Women's Restrooms.
Our Pilots Sheds are roomy and have nice tables on concrete.
RV's and Campers welcome, although we currently do not have hookups for you.
(water is available as stated above)
There are plenty of hotels and restaurants in the immediate vicinity.

This is now one of the PREMIER flying sites in the nation and especially the Southeast.

Reezie and I will be headed that way Friday afternoon. Looking forward to a full weekend of great 3D flying and hanging out! Several of the local guys from here will be joining us and other guys from Mississippi, Louisiana, and maybe even Tennessee. Can't wait to see the new field updates. We plan to camp at the field Saturday night for sure.

AWESOME! I talked to a couple more today that are coming. You guys are going to have a great time. I forgot to tell you, we've even got a sound system installed at our field now, so we can rock some music while we're flying!

UGGGGGGGG..... All thats left is covering the wings and stabs and paint on my plane. Covering today. Hopefully we'll get a lot done. I'm going to try my hardest to get to this fly-in. Sounds like a lot of fun.

The field is looking GOOD! The Runway was Striped today and looks great for this weekends event!

Another GREAT day at the field! I flew the AW Extra 260 again gettin' ready!
Tomorrow we'll be working on the Maiden of a 42% Giles 202 and then on Friday another AW Extra 260 will take to the air on it's Maiden flight.

As of now, we have HUCKERS from Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, and other parts of Alabama coming, and hopefully we can add another state or two to the list!

Well, looks like the Giles Maiden will be Friday. Several complications and things that had to be redone. Have to work Thursday, so no progress there. This Giles is about 15 years old. This is a refurb type deal and it needed some TLC. But, I think it will be a pretty good airplane when we're through with it. Can't wait to get it in the air Friday.

Still have a Extra 260 to Maiden Friday also.
