I have a ZDZ 40 that is hard to start . I had some success useing 24 vdc with a Dynatron starter , My flight box is getting heavey with a separate 12v & 24 v power system , (3 Batteries ) , How can I wire a circuit that uses only 2 12v batteries and still gives me 12 & 24 volt output ?
Thanks for any help ! |

You could go to radio shack and get the "Series" connector for your batteries, as well as the "Parallel" one and switch them. If you want the 24 volts connect them in series, if you want them 12 volts connect them parallel. Hope this helps

Just use the 24V setup and connect your 12 V stuff to one cell.

Ken,
Thanks for posting the schematic. The way this works is pretty simple. The 12 volt accy, plug will have 12 volts at all times, regardless of the switch position. The starter plug switches between 12, and 24 volts depending on switch position. I have had this set up in my field box for about 7 years now, and it works great. I use the Sullivan Dynatron starter with it, since it is designed to work on 12, and 24 volts. Mike Darr |

Here is what I use and it is GREAT. Sullivan products has a battery pack that attatches to your starter with Nicad batteries. Use TWO of them piggybacked on each other and voila! A cordless 24 volt system.
Give Sullivan a call and they tell you how if I didnt explain very well. |

hey dhammond,
i was wondering and i dont want to sound obnoxious but have you checked your engine and or ignition? that zdz 40 should be as easy as any other zdz to start! you might have a problem with your ignition or something etc. it should flip over and start easily by hand!! any one else have the same view? i have seen a few zdz50's and they are a great little motor!! aerowiz |
