Default Beginning IMAC in Michigan

I am 15 and would like to start flying IMAC and I live in southeast Michigan. I have searched around Flying Giants and the Mini-iac website quite a bit. I have a pretty good understanding of what IMAC is all about. And as I am practicing, I am really starting to enjoy it. I now prefer flying IMAC vs. 3D. I just need to get out and go to a contest. My question is what contest is coming up in the North Central region that would be a good first contest to attend?

Cap,
Your best bet would be to go to the IMAC website and check the North Central schedule page under regions. Find a contest on there that's within a reasonable distance and have at it. I think you'll find that any of the contests would be "good" first contests. The Brazil contest in Terre Haute is always a great one if you want to drive that far.

Whichever one you choose, good luck and have some fun!!

Thanks Gary,

I have looked at the schedule. I just wanted to make sure before driving hours to an event.

Also, do you still get a deduction for not having a dashboard? I have a pilot but not a dash. But I could easily add one.

pic any contest, thats a good one for a first contest. im sure that you have seen there is a contest in lansing, thats always fun. there are several guys in your area that fly imac, see if you can get in touch with one of them and go practice with them. another set of eyes always help. if you want, send me your phone number and i'll give you a call next time some of us get together to practice. im living in battle creek, as im a college student, but i also fly unlimited.

Gary,
If your flying in the Basic class you don't need a pilot or dash unless your flying a scale aerobatic plane. All classes above basic will be required to fly a scale aerobatic plane. A deducted of 1% flight score penalty will be assessed for no pilot or dash. It's probably no big deal but I have seen people lose a place because of no pilot or dash. Just go to a contest and have fun.
