what are boost tabs??????

Thanks, Doug
Hi Doug,
I will try my best, but what they are is like a trim tabs but operate in opposite of the control surfave it is attached to .

with the proper size and proper setup, you can reduce the size of servo/s from this control surface by 85%....

The only problem you can't buy these, you have to build them in as you build or as an after thought, and with today's Arf, no one seems to want to build so you won't see many around ,/

By installing boost tabs, you will be able to reduce the total weight of the airplane .

Less servos, which means smaller batteries, , one servo/control surface, means no matchbox, even rudder can use only one servo with the biggest out there.

so not only will you save on the weight but will save lot of money in the process and not jeapordise the control authorithy nor the safety of the aircraft.

Here is a very good article that you should read for a more indebt information
http://www.geocities.com/roger_forgues/Boost-tabs.html

Hope this helps

Roger

Dang that's a bunch of snow! If I lived up there, I'd have to make ski's for my Carden. I wonder if that's ever been done?

after sheeting the wings, locating the servo installation, I have sanded both the leading edge and trailing edge , then added the leading edge stock.

Hi Roger, Wait till you get that baby in the air! You will not find a better design for crisp aerobatics, I suspect you will build the 40% next, suspect, hardly, I'll give 10 to 1 odds you will, I know its not possible, but the 40 is a little easier to fly, prolly cause we can see it , and those reynolds numbers don't lie. Am glad you are having a lot of fun with this project, thats what this hobby is all about.
Regards
Jack

Roger, since that thing is a turboprop, how about making a prop that looks like this?

Haha. I think Santa grows some of those. He lives near you right? Snow sounds pretty good right about now though. 60% + humidity and 90-100 degree highs is getting old...

Seriously though, this is turning out to be a really neat project! That's good your friend liked the prop! Do you have any plans to produce and sell them, or is it just for fun?
