Roger just thought i would advise you of a problem my friend ran into with the Wren turbine on his 35% QQ Yak and the angle of the exhaust . My friends Yak ran into a big problem on the exhaust angle of the Wren and the wings got very hot from the exhaust and caught on fire , luckily it was on the ground when this happened. He sent the Wren back to England and the company turned the exhaust at a upward angle to prevent the hot exhaust from getting the wings to hot again. I believe the exhaust now are a 45 degree angle upward. The Wren co. also did some updates to the motor as they have some issues on throttle response and ect. Just thought i would let you know.

Thanks for the info, will deffinately look into it... I will speak with Hayes Hutchins, as he has quite a few of these and will probably have things to tell me on this issue.

There are not many posts from others on this build, I do realise it may be boring for some people who have built a lot before, but my intentions is to get as much detail for those who haven't built much before.

Am I introducing too many details????

I like the pictures, they're so awesome...I'm speechless.

I really like to see a pile of pieces transform into an airframe...especially a turboprop. Keep it going.

Thanks guys, so I will continue with detailed pictures when I can...

Here are a few pictures that some old time builders will remember for sure. After using the wing plans for one side, I simply turn the sheet over and rub the whole thing with cooking oil and wipe clean.. the lines comes out very clear so now I won't make the mistake of making two same side wings

For the other wing, I am using a bit of a different technique although the results will be the same.

I create a box shape with the foam rib blanks at there proper locations. The top part is glued to the foam .. once the top part is cut, then I remove the top part as a whole and it becomes a good solid cradle when I reverse the wing. I hope I am explaining this OK...

Roger, as a side note how about a picture of how you cut your propellers. I never tried to do this but have always wanted to.

Sure no problem

I designed and built this duplicator using a small router, The pictures you see here is just cutting on the duplicator, then of course, I have to sand them with a drum sander until all the cutting marks are out, and balance. then I paint a clear urathane coat, balance again, once balanced, I drill for the engine I am using, then water sand with fine grit like a 400 until smooth, then spray again the clear urathane, once dry, water sand again, then put my name on it, and the size, clear coat again but this time, carefull checking the balance at the same time let it dry and voila...Being retired , it cost me about 1.5 hours total of my time, plus $7.00 dollars of properly dried Beach wood.. for a 26*10 the last I made is a 36*12 for my EVO 300
I have been flying my own props for the last 7 years, not my design though.

You make it look easy. Have you ever done a laminated prop? Are laminated prop's stiffer?
