Default SD 30% Extra 260 thrust line

Vertical center line of my firewall box is a good 1/4" below cl of wing. Should I place the DL-50 on wing line? Actually may not be able to go down quite that far as engine mounting bolts would be near bottom of firewall.

Second question: Based on several pictures posted for this model, appears that top of firewall box has been omitted. Was this just to show inside or are pepope actually flying that way? Seems like a lot of torsional ridigity lost?

Thanks, Larry

Best thing to do is hang the fuse off a ladder, (meaning put the landing gear on the top and let the fuse hang down) position the motor on the motor box, and try to fit the cowl over it. AS long as the motor is centered in the hole in the cowl, your going to be fine, you can shim it out with washers to get the final adjustments.

I have seen many of these planes with out the top of the motor box, I really don't think it adds that much strength. Just make sure you pin the motor box to the firewall and you should be fine.

You should have the top of the motor box included with the plane. It is left off to allow you to do your rigging, you glue it on later,,,, before you fly.
