Default WW1 machine gun sounds

I just finished watching a video on the Ohio Dawn Patrol website which featured a 1/3rd scale BUSA WW1 plane with a great sounding machine gun! Can anyone tell me how this was done??

Hi there??? Me again. Is there any type of mechanical way of making machine gun sounds for our planes? Are the electronic speaker systems loud enough to make a realistic noise over a Zenoah 45?? It would be great fun to do a low pass with my BUSA 1/4 scale DR1 and strafe the troops!!

Gidday Trumpetman,
Check out www.inzpan.com for some great scale stuff. There is a setup that uses starter gun primers for the noise and has an adjustable rate of fire. I would just check import requirements before ordering though, I work for Customs here in Australia and know that a permit/waiver would be required before I could get one in.

Trumpetman, the guys that are part of the Ohio Dawn Patrol belong to the same club that we do. They use paintball guns and they make a really authentic sound. Give me a little while and I will find out how to get a hold of them if you like. We are in the Cincinnati area and a lot of us are without power right now due to the hurricane blowing through (yes, hurricaine Ike decided that us Mid-Westerners needed a little taste of a hurricaine) so it may take me a little doing, but I will get you the info.

Thanks for the information Tank and NCFRgal. I had heard rumours about a system that used starter pistol blanks but had not been able to find it on the web. I'll have to check with Canada Customs on what would be required to bring it in.

Go to www.hoosierdawnpatrol.com they have a yahoo group that you can join, and several have the converted paintball guns for realistic sound. (they even will be able to give mounting assistance since several have the planes you spoke about) The Ohio boys and Indiana boys are cut from the same cloth, and function pretty much together.
I hope this helps..
Regards,
