Default imac rule ?

Hi guys,

Does anyone know if there is any kind of rule as to how far apart must two contest be if on the same date ?

How far do you guys think they should be ?

Should the regional director allow it ?

I know that if I was ever to have a contest on the same dates as another contest in the region and I knew they had the dates first I would have the courtesy to contact the cd and ask if it would be okay.

Thanks
Albert

I don't think you can hold two contests in the same region on the same day.

Well I'm brand new to IMAC but if that ISN'T against the rules it sure should be. All competitors in a region should be able to participate in all events.

I happanes in the southeast a few times a year. But most of the time its a contest in the northern part of the region, and the other is in the southern part. Which can be 12 to 16 hour trip. Not really a big deal if they are way apart like that. ( Too me at least)

The regional director should be running the show. Unfortunately, ours isn't. AMA guidelines give us 3 or 4 hundred miles I believe.... (guessing on that). As you know for me Albert, that puts me in a tough spot because I am right in the middle. A lot of guys dont check the IMAC site, or other sites, they just submit them, and assume that they are ok when they get approved, leading to these issues. I think its really the RD's responsibility to make sure that this doesnt happen... unfortunately... has anyone seen or heard from our RD anytime recently?

I agree with you John. We have five or six guys in your area that are in the middle that can go to either contest and this is the reason the regional should not allow it. The last time I talked to joe about the VT contest he said to me that he would not allow it but we all know how that turned out. Now we have two contest on the same weekend again. I left him a voice mail about the maine contest but did not hear from him.

I hear ya. Im not sure what the rest of the CT guys are doing...havent seen them in a while. I know that Matt and I are headed to Maine. I sent some of other guys an email to see where they are headed. I wish they were on diff dates, I would have done both as I have places to stay in both areas, so both contests are pretty cheap to go to besides gas.

this is govern by AMA. and yes you can have two contests on same weekend in Region. Like contest here in Colorado Springs, will not have any efect on contest in Bay area of California, 1200 miles a way.
I believethat it is 300 miles, on another hand as CD I would not put contest on same day even 400 miles a way. I think I may be cutting participation in my own contest that way.
I also like to plan 2 weeks in between, to give people rest between travel.

I don't see the maine contest posted on the imac site. Was it approved by our RD ?
If not the points will not count. Remember that contest shown on the tentative schedule are not nescesarily approved. The cd still has to fill the proper "paper work".

I agree with you, 1200 miles away isn't a problem less than 500 miles is if you happen to live in the middle is. I also agree about having two weeks in between.

Thanks

Albert.... for information, we have not received any requests for the National Unknowns for another contest in the NE, & neither would we send any out unless it was authorized by the Regional Director & requested through the proper channels from the IMAC website.

Up until today, yours is the only "official" contest that Unknowns have been dispatched to in the NE Region.

The RD shouldn't let it happen unless they are so far apart, they won't be competing for pilots. IMHO
