Thanks Dean,

That is a great idea to have a samplying of the paint buildup like you suggest. I'll try to do that next. I'm staying close to home for a while due to costs and such for travel right now. I really appreaciate the offer though to stay at your home though.
THanks,
Jim

Hey Jim,

I've got a trailer now and between me or a good friend that's a sportsman pilot from Plant City, FL you can come to Huntsville with us. Hey the more the merrier. All you need to do is bring your support equipment, plane and baggage to Lakeland and you are in like flint. We may have to may one stop at Micanopy on the way up.
Oh and by the way great job on the paint. I feel your pain, but when you get that stuff figured out it's grand. Hey if you ride to Huntsville with us you are gonna here some paint stories and I aint joking. Just ask Dean and Mike they will back that up.

Looks great Jim...

I agree... base coat, clear coat is the ticket. I also use the Nason Ureathane primer and really like it a lot. Fills pin holes very well, and can be laid up very heavy and sands like butter.

Nice job.

Larry, Dean, - thanks for the Huntsville offer. Lets get this in the air first and see what happens. I have never gone that far north in the district for a contest, and I would need to take a Friday and Monday from work to get there and home. If I take some echinasia (spelling?) or something I think I can re-remember the two sequences.

MattyMatt - thanks for the tips along the way too!

Here is the rudder. This took a while to get done tonight. It is hinged with piano wire. There is enough small misalignment to keep it from ever backing out. The rudder still swings freely too.
Thanks,
Jim

The plastic "For Sale" signs you can buy at the hardware store work great for test panels for painting

Hey Jim,

Just get the plane finished and I'm sure you can get your work to let you off and come fly. Don't worry about the practice and how good you're going to be, if you're first or last who cares. We are going to have fun during the day flying and in the evening what have ya kinda fun. This site is a great site we are going to and I have a new plane to fly in it as well. I completely repainted Chris's old plane in my own scheme and I using a DZ140 that I purchased from a Japanese F3A pilot. He had YS in Japan overhaul it and sold it to me. I sure this plane is going to be over weight, but it's the last of the V2's built by Mike Hester. This particular plane is the one Maricio won in 2006 in Sportsman. Get it in gear and get that Osmose finished and come fly with us.

Well - the moment of truth. Wings were 15 oz each. Fuselage ready to fly (stabs on ) is 8 lbs 5.8 oz - without T-cannalizer (still drying). So, this can be 10 lbs 4 oz without T-cannalizer. I have not weighted the T yet. I hope it is not more than 3 oz. Hopefully this will finish out at 10 lbs 8 oz.

I'm using A123 1100 battery, no regulator, Mezjlick 18x10 prop, tru-turn solid backplate spinner, Super-Duty Smart-Fly switch with 18 guage wire. The easiest weight target at this point is to exchange the spinner for the CF one with the kit, but I have not had the time to cut it out yet for prop clearnace.

CG? At this moment, if you stick your fingers into the wing tube the fuselage definately swings to the nose-down immediately. I'm hoping that the CG will be good too, once the wings and T are one.

So far it looks really good for weight and CG potential.

All other Osmose I know of are tettering closer to 11 lbs. This one may come in 10 lbs 8 oz with the T-can
Thanks,
Jim

-ARGH -the header tank is not full, so I think I'll be OK to either drop the header tank, or drop the AL spinner - either way CG options exist

Time to play airplane. Here are some pics. Rudder is rigged. Next up is matching elevator and setting incidences (... now what were those?), drilling the other side of the wing and stab tube holes. I still need to make a throttle pushrod, HS needle extension, and aieleron pushrods. Also, finish painting the T.
Thanks,
Jim

T-cannilizer weighs 1.48 oz. So, this should finish out at 10 lbs 8 oz for sure.
