The glosssy spinner looks cool. It took about 10 minutes to cut out for the prop. The T-can is mounted. I'm looking for a test flight tomorrow after work.
Thanks, Jim

Maiden planned for this afternoon around 5:00 pm at Markham Park. The tropical storm is gone enough to get out again. First few flights will be without the T, in order to baseline the plane.
Thanks, Jim

Hi Jim,
Hope it went well. Let's us know. I was looking at the Osmose 70, thinking that would be a fun plane for the local club field. hope you all survived the storm done there. It's been windy and cloudy here.... later bud.... |

Guys - The plane flys awesome! I got two flights on it today and took it home to go over and check out. On flight #2, I flew the rolling loop, 1/2 loop with two rolls, and knife edge loop, and the plane carves these with ease on low rate rudder. I also did the two-roll roller circle and again, the plane carves around this with ease. We still have some bad/dirty air down here from Fay, or thunder storms. At this point all indicators are that the plane is going to be an exceptional plane. I'm really happy so far. Hopefully more flights this week as the weather improves.
Thanks, Jim

Thanks Ben and Dean,
Here is a pic from last evening at Markham Park. At this point I have input a mix of 2% down elevator to rudder, as the plane comes to the canopy a bit in knife edge, and during the knife-edge loop. I will also end up with a 1 or 2% roll mix, hopefully to be determined tonight after work. I had planned to do more trim flying, and "safe" new motor flying yesterday, but instead took to sequence flying while I had some coaching there. The plane flys awesome for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It seems to do a lot of things very easy. #1 - absolutely no pitch change at various speeds - slow or fast the pitch axis is right on. The wings also seem "locked-on" too. The plane is a roll'n motha!!!!! the 3 rolls opposite, 2 of 4 reversed, 4/8 stuff, are on the easier side of the equation to get done. The plane also spins beautifully on rudder and elevator. The rudder is super-powerful, but not twitchy. It is smooth for sure. After initial flights, I moved the battery from the firewall to the wing tube, and installed a header tank right underneath the stopper of the main tank. The CG is perfect now. New plane weight is 10 lbs 7 oz after adding header tank. So far so good!! Thanks, Jim

Thanks Don, Thanks Chris. You and your dad did a nice job on your plane. For my scheme, I make simple straight line cuts. For instance, the yellow part of the scheme is actually two pieces - the long skinny portion, and the wider stripe. I'm pretty consistent with about an 1/8" overlap on all pieces. So far, it is all sticking down with no bubbles. I flew 3 more flights after work today working on motor tuning and some trim maneuvers. All is good at this point!!

Way cool!
However I think you're in serious need of graphics. Fantastic job though. Now get out here and make some contests! First cold malted adult beverage is on me dude. -Mike
