Jim's suggestions:
I don't have a problem with a "protest period". It does take the suprise out of tight races....and there are very few races that would end up in protest so I'm not sure it's worth it.

Posting raw scores? Don't think I'm in favor of that. I think we already have judges that are not secure enough in there own abilities and if they see raw scores higher or lower than they typically give, they'll adjust their scores so they "look" like they're as good a judge as the next guy. We know there are some who are "knolegable judges" and some "not so knowlegable judges". That's always going to be the case and since we have judges schools it IS getting better. But, it will never be perfect. I just want a judge that's consistant. Judge all competitors on a level playing field. Don't change your point system just because you saw the raw scores Fred gave me!

I like the way you think Ron ,,,,,,,, not sure about the raw scores thing ,,,,,, Jim makes a good point also . When do I get my plaque for best fried bread ?????

Ok, I give: whats EBE?

Jim, your dream of having raw scores posted and a protest period could be a reality! Don't give up on your dream! You can make it happen! All you have to do is CD your own contest, and you can post the scores any way you'd like.

I was in a contest a few years ago and I beat another person by only mere points. We had been flying neck-and-neck all weekend. After the awards were handed out, my competitor wanted to protest the scoring because he strongly felt he should have won. After more than an hour of recalculating by hand on a spreadsheet, the results from the scoring program were confirmed. Needless to say I'm not a big fan of scoring protests.

PROTEST ????? I did not know we could do that. LOL Can I protest that woodbutcher beat me by less than a half a piont at butcherfest ?????? I demand a recount. I know I can find that .46 some where in those scores. May be someone entered my positioning score off by one point, yea that should do it, or did they give him brownie pionts for it being his field ??????? ***

The idea is that say, you were entered a "zero", when in fact is was supposed to be a "10." The only way you know this is to see your raw/tear-sheet, and compare to wha the "print-out" of your score is. It should be limited to acknowledging that your scores were entered correctly or not, and not a referendum on the whole event. The CD's are allowed to control the contests, the contestent is allowed to check his scores as input. Just an idea.
Thanks,
Jim

Don.....you must not have read the fine print in your contract about "lifetime term commitment" and even then you have to bring in your own death certificate to get out.
