I think that this is the problem with the closed contest, it forces you to chase points so that you qualify for regionals.
I still haven't seen anyone explain what the benefits are to having a closed contest, I haven't been to a regional yet so I don't fully understand.

I vote number 3 ,, I think it should be open,, In reality with gas prices etc, the way they are you are not going to have to many more pilots than the ones that are in the top 10's in the class's,, especially if the regionals are down in florida,

1) Keep the current system as is, no changes.
2) Keep the Regional Championship open to only the top 10 SE pilots, but change the point system.
3) Open up the Regional Championship to any SE pilot that wants to attend.

Any other options for this poll or edits to these options? Pride, you neo-nazi conservative computer guru, wanna get this started after we define the poll questions?

Pete, nothing?

I will Pete. O, by the way, I am attaching that picture you wanted. The printer said they could not make a life size blow up doll like you REALLY wanted, but the life size cardboard cut out is on its way.

Dumb question here,.....If this contest where open to any SE pilot who wanted to attend, then why would it be called a Championship? and what would be the purpose of keeping tabs on the points if they don't get you anywhere?

There must be a purpose for all the hours of practice, dedication, money and time the serious competitors in IMAC have to look forward to, and a seasons end competition with the best pilots in there respective classes is it.
I can see a need to amend the points system, but my vote is for # 2.

There are eight contest left in the SE Region! You boys better get to flying instead of blowing smoke! TAKES THE BEST SIX TO WIN THE REGIONAL POINTS CHALLENGE! Any one's ball game boys.
FYI in the past the the tie breaker for the Regional Points Race was... The competitors that tied... the contests that each competed in were looked at and the one that had the most pilots beaten in that class won. Simple and easy. There were no bonus anything. Example: Jack finished with a 4000.0 and Jill finished with a 4000.0 Jack's largest contest was in Kalamazoo with 10 pilots total and Jill went to Elsegundo with 11 pilots. Well.... Jill wins. see no bonus points!

Now... There is no rule that says... You have to compete in six contest to receive an invitation for the Regional. It says for the points race that it will be decided by your best six contest and that the Regionals will count 1500.0 + bonus points.

The Regional invitations are sent out to the top ten pilots in your class. If you will look at the totals you will see that there are a lot of pilots that do not have 6000 points.

Get to flying! As stated above you have a chance to compete in eight more contest this year. Go South East Region! Do you guys realize we are over half way through the season?

See you at the Reionals!

One thing I am not sure of is for the Regional invitation...
Best six or best five? Anyone know? OR does it really matter?

Guys, I wasn't starting the poll in here. ConservoPride will do that in a separate thread or something, I don't know exactly what he does with that kompewter of his. I just wanted to make sure we had the questions right.

Thats just it Monty - going to all these nice contests the SE provided....gets you a plaque that says you went to the most contests in the season and got the most points....not that you were the best pilot, or the most dedicated, who can say such a thing?

A 'Championship' in my eyes is a 'best of the best' that weekend - regardless of how many competitors. Not the 'best of the best of points gathering championship'.

We are now starting to compare other sports to this 'hobby'. I think all of the other regions have it right - leave the Regionals open.

I still think we should have a Qualifier the day of (just like the Masters used to do)....if you got game (with points or not) show up. The top 10 finishers of the day go on to compete for two more days. This will definetly keep some people from traveling so far who fear not making the cut - others will take the risk, and enjoy the weekend even if they dont make the cut.

Hey Mark,

not trying to bash anybody - points are fine - I am just saying we should keep the points race a seperate event, and that person should be recognized at the Regionals - and leave the Regional Championships open to anyone who wants to attend - I still like the Qualifier idea, always have....lol
