Joe,

I agree with you if the regionals is an open contest then there should be a qualifier for each class the first two days. Normalize everyone then Top 5 go on to the finals. It can definatly be exciting!

Why normalize? There is no need for that.

I will Pete. O, by the way, I am attaching that picture you wanted. The printer said they could not make a life size blow up doll like you REALLY wanted, but the life size cardboard cut out is on its way.

I agree with Joe Cutright,, I would go for the qualifying, for the contest,, like the setup for the masters,, and see who the best of the best is,, not joe blow who was fortunate and went to 23 contest this year and is only there because of that,, I say it again and I think Joe Cutright is saying the same thing,, I want to see who the best is,, a "championship" is the best PILOT not the one who is able to make 23 contest a year,, just have the regional contest,,,, and then if everyone is point savvy give the year end points winner award to the points leader per class in the SE,, that would award Joe blow for making 23 contest,,

Yea , yea , I know I need to loose some weight but you keep hanging me out to dry . You know I'm just having fun here ,,,,,,,,,, yes of course I think what you are saying is the best way to do the Regionals and I would be there and stay for the whole thing even if I did not make the cut !

Well, since Joe through out the idea of a qualifier event, I'll throw out two scoring ideas: I have a dream.... All final round scores and tear sheets hence forth should be posted 25 minutes before the awards ceremony, and allow for a scoring review or "protest-period" as used in other sports. I like the philosophy of a "protest-period," which allows the competitors to review the outcome and address any questions prior to the awards. This is not to be devisive or counter-culture, but does recognize that "sometimes," errors happen along the way. This would engender support of the final results.

Idea #2 - In the spirit of transparency, ALL pilot raw scores (every maneuver, every round) should be posted along with round-totals. This can also be used as part of pilot and judge "on-the-spot" training. New persons would be able to practice judge, and afterwards, be able to compare their results. Competitors would gain insight into "how" the Round-scores are developed. .... posting raw scores also helps keep the "honest-man-honest" from time to time... It would shed a lot of light directly on an important area, and perhaps help guys feel like they understand more about how the rounds are calculated, and also learn from their fellow competitors flying styles.

That is my dream , just some ideas.
Thanks,
Jim

I still think we should have a Qualifier the day of (just like the Masters used to do)....if you got game (with points or not) show up. The top 10 finishers of the day go on to compete for two more days.[/quote]

Great idea - can I change my vote in the poll?

Pete
