I will be curious to see the AUW as compared to the advertised AUW of the airframe. I have 3 extreme flight planes so dont get me wrong but my 2 50CC's came out a bit on the heafty side definately over the advertised range.

Whatch what you be stuffn' in that bird..
if you stuff it with all the fixens its sher to be a turkey ...smoke,rudder tray, choke servos, large fuel tanks, heavy tires, big batteries, regulators, power boxes, onboard tacks, big Kodiak switches, tuned pipes, pipe mounts, pilot figure, dash panel, canopy floor, heavy spinner..... I trimed many pounds off of my Carden Edge trimming all that crap off of it. Heck just the smoke system was 11 oz. The tires where 8oz.! now I have Kavans that are 2oz. CF landing gear and titanium tail wheel will save a full pound. Using a 48fuid oz. pop bottle will save5oz. over a dubro tank. Swapping JMB cans for stock muffs took another 24 oz. off. rudder tray swapped out for just 2 8711s in the tail took another 8oz. off Took out regulators and went with a123s saving 4 oz. Pilot figure was removed saving 8oz. Thats a total of 82oz. (5.1 lbs) that I trimmed off and it flew like a whole different plane. Last edited by buttface; 02-22-2009 at 08:37 PM. |

Yeah joe I did what you did, titanium axles, CF spinner DA 50 CF pipe, Kanavan tires, super light Fromeco gear. and my 50cc extra came out at 19 lbs. This months issue of fly RC had a review of it and there plane was 19 lbs as well. Not to start a pissing match here but I definately want to know real world AUW before I get this airframe so I can choose the best engine. For me a DA 50 on a 19 LBS plane just sucks in retrospect I should have gone w/ a bigger power plant.
> and in that review they left out the pilot / dash / floor |

My EF 50cc extra was 16.8 pounds and my EF 50cc yak with a ES Composite tuned pipe was 18.3 pounds. Guys...these things are light planes. A 19 pound EF extra means you added way too much glue or added stuff you didnt need.

Yeah I don't understand where the extra weight is coming from. No need for extra glue or wood, these things are built strong and tested like you wouldn't believe before being release to the public. Guys need to stop looking at the scale and just fly the planes, the flight performance speaks for itself. As far as the 123" Extra, I flew the prototype and it's flies like a big foamy when 3Ding yet is super solid and locked in when flying sequences, don't know what the weight was and don't care.
