I won't argue such a silly thing anymore. It's heavy right out of the box. Sorry for the truth.

lol.
Do you think you can get away with 1 servo for the elevator and two for ailerons (innermost and outermost position) if I use 8711 or the 7950TH? |

JoeAirport, help me understand. In one breath you say they are the best out there and you love the way they fly and then out of the other side of your mouth you trash them by saying they are too heavy. I don't get your mentality.

I think he was being sarcastic. A little smiley
at the end would probably help convey the tone of the post.

There is no price set as of this time. As far as the weight, I dont think it could be any lighter without a serious compromise to structure. The main objective is too build it as light as possible while maintaing structural integrity.
My 88's and my 110" are not heavy at all, and I dont know what they are being compared too. I have seem some at both sides of the scale.. Blair

The biggest problem is people are comparing weight to other 50cc planes.
Do the math on the wingloading, mine was 18 if I recall correctly. That is 28.6 oz wingloading, on a plane this size that is awesome. Many others considered in the top of the 50cc market are atleast that or higher. This is almost a 33%, my last 33% weighed 24 pounds and the only difference was it had 9.5" on the wings and needed an 80cc to fly. Yes it had another 300 squares as well.. still flew a heck of a lot heavier than the EF. Either way I saw the 123" Fly a bunch 1.5 years ago sure as heck didn't look like it had a weight problem to me.

If making them lighter made them weaker then I'm for keeping them as is. I have the 50cc Extra at 17#, 10 oz and the Yak 50 cc at 17#, 12 oz. I love them both and this is the only brand of planes I will buy. And you are correct, they are much bigger than the other 50cc planes out there. There is one brand of Yak on the market that is big and light....but I'd never buy one with the quality issues. Of course I'm spoiled with EF. I'm sure this 123" Extra will be one of the best on the market. Chris wouldn't have it any other way.

Thats part of the reason it sometimes takes the time it does to get a plane ready for the market...I can assure you the 123" will be super-strong and light too. It will be hard to top!

I've had lighter planes, and I've had the lighter planes fall apart, then I've had myself wishing they had weighed another pound or two so they wouldn't fall apart. I'm sure they make them as light as possible while still not falling apart, but then I think that's what they all are shooting for right? |

Hardest part is trying to figure out which one you want to fly.
