It was great meeting you up at the Joe Nall last week. I came back to Atlanta and have been flying for the last 2 days & will go back out again today. I was supposed to attend an IMAC contest 4 weeks ago, but everyone else in Unlimited "chickened out" so I did not do the 7 hour drive to fly by myself. I will be going to Tuscaloosa Alabama next week for it's maiden IMAC contest..... she now has 70 flights on her & is doing very well. Here is the latest shot with graphics... Wayne

Not many can do such a thing.....in this economy?...must be making nice planes.... Bill Hemple is close... but has a huge overhead, and has VERY expensive aircrafts so it isn’t Quite the same.... When you start to get a bit uneasy, about not having this plane out ....just think of it this way... What manufacture that you know of lets up know about a prototype, and a plane that is coming out years prior to release??? Not many at all.... Only one I can think of is H9 and THE BEAST.... If you didn't have the aircraft info from EF, you wouldn't even know that this was set to come out??!! You should have logged into the 2M Vanquish forums...WOW...now that was some really heated discussion about release dates and such.... Totally unnecessary. I tried to do Simple information post, and the flamers jammed in and got EF's attention.... EF didn't like the bad press and the forum didn't like the bad language, and it was placed in LOCK DOWN.... Topflite just let the public know about their giant p-40 ARF.... It took 2-years of prototypes and Factory changes before they even could set up a release date... All the MFG's are the same.... Just don't log onto the FG and the forums about EF planes, and you will not have to stress about it... Plenty of great aircrafts out there for you to buy.... 3Dhobby has a great 150cc slick 540.. The list goes on...and on and on... I even fell into latest greatest poster trap, and had the " Have to Have it" mentality..... One needs to put things into perspective... It is like Aero works.... They, for a while, had the public opinion of the "greatest aircrafts made" And they get some planes out that had some issues with glue, and many turned on them... Some of the same guys that said they were the best said they wouldn't get another plane from them... H9 had the 85cc Sukhoi, and extra with wings that blew off and the 85cc Sukhoi was built so light that the plane rattled apart.... for the spec DA85 engine... The M.M designed 85cc Sukhoi, was probly one of the greatest flying ARF's to date, but was just recently discontinued, due to the problems above....It the factory that usually causes these issues...From not enough glue, to using inferior adhesives... There are Very few companies that can be the hero all the time...what goes up, usually goes down.....Can one blame EF for wanting to make sure things are right/?? Ohh man....I really ranted this time ...BlAhhh Blahhh blahhh blahhh

Well the good thing is the 123" Extra is well into production and there are several people out there that already have them. There are three here in the states right now and there will be more in the very near future, the plane has already proven that it was well worth the wait.....

when building this kit make sure you get the aileron horns glued in the correct positions. i did not realise there were 3 different types. no build manual and EF won't send me new ailerons.

Wayne built the very first one and did an "in depth" buid on this forum. I can understand your frustration with glueing horns in the wrong place but it's not uncommon for assembly manuals to come along later. I built the Krill Katana a couple of yrs ago and I think they're still without a manual. Not that it will help now, but here's the link to Wayne's build if there's anyone else needing it.

When you are wrong, you are wrong. Bill Hemple does not have a huge overhead. In fact, his models are a side business for him. He has a full time job. He is basically a one man operation with very little overhead. Bill is one of the greatest guys you will ever meet in this hobby. His planes reflect his love for the hobby. They are unique in size, quality, and approach, reflecting his perspective, the time he puts into design, and the personal attention he gives to his customers. Bill's business can best be described as a "botique" ARF builder. I guess it is up to each of us to set our own definition of "expensive", but Bill's prices are not the result of a large organization with "huge overhead". |

I specifically mentioned the variance of the aileron horn lengths (holes at the top of the horn) as the mechanical difference has already been taken into consideration when the plans were being designed. Take a look at this post in my assembly thread: http://www.flyinggiants.com/forums/s...3&postcount=12 Wayne

It's not a problem, just drill the correct holes in it with your dremel and you are ready to go...

. What bugs me is that EF won't even quote me a price for sending me new ailerons even though I think it is cr@p they don't put instructions in such an expensive kit.

Some peoples definition of "very soon" and my definition of "very soon" are apparently very different.
Don't get me wrong if they call me with a plane I'll still buy it but dang, how do you guys keep saying that? Eventually you will be right and our definitions of very soon will be the same. |

Anyone else intending to go electric like me when they get one? I'm waiting for the Plettenberg Predator 37/6, Schulze 300A ESC and 14S11600 lipo.
