Hinckley, looks like you have the other B-17 that came from England. My friend met the guy several years ago and kept trying to get the B-17's from him. Finally he got the guy to break and bought one. I guess he was able to buy both but only wanted one. We have flown the B-17 quite a few times. Pretty easy to fly. If you want I can get you in touch with the owner of this one.

Hey Garrett,

Is this the same B17 that was in the IMAA mag a year or two ago? The fellow I purchased this from was Dave Johnson....he and his son were flying two of 'em over in the U.K. The hardest part about getting it was arranging the shipping and then getting it across the border (it came in through Canada) when the TSA had an "orange alert" in place....Customs guys were real leery about a "plane this size" and what it could be used for.

I sure would like to connect with the owner, as it's always nice to see how someone else successfully put something like this together.....send me his email address or contact info asap. I might even considered making a trip out to sunny California to see it in person. Added a couple of pics of the fiberglass fuse hangin' in the garage.

Bill, my buddy went over to the La-Forte "sp" and met the guy that built his plane. I'm not sure what the guys name is that built it. I know it cost him a lot of money and just about the same amount to ship it over. Its been in a few IMAA mags from the Castle Flyin and the Cowchill Giant Scale. Its actually a fun plane to fly. I can do some 1' high passes with the wing tip 5' from us. Everyone really gets excited because once the plane is in the air it does not look fast until you do a run like that.

P47, I let my buddy know about your planes. He is going to take a look.

Garrett,

Thanks for the information......I have to believe he too acquired it from Dave Johnson. I'll contact him soon to talk as it's been hangin' in the garage way to long.
