Default Going Solo

Hey guys,

I finally soloed (solo?) over the weekend, man what an experience. I was on the buddy box with my flight instructor when he exclaimed that he thought i was ready to stretch my wings. He disconnected the buddy box and handed my the controller and stepped back. I was so nervous, for a moment I was tempted to go home, but then i thought what the heck, it's only wood. Once I got in the air and settled in I had the best time yet. Two complete flights (hey that's 2 take-offs and landings) and nothing went wrong. As a matter of fact, they were my best landings yet. I don't mean to brag (well at least not too much), but it was really something else.

I think that I am oficially "hooked". Hmmmm, maybe it's time to change my signature.

Congrats. Welcome to the dark side. Enjoy the flying you are able to do, and people you meet along the way.

Congrats ! That's one thing I missed out on coming up from park flyers, kind of feels like I missed graduation or something...

Congratulations, welcome to the addiction.

I still remember my first solo. This was in the days when buddy boxes weren't common. It was a pass the radio type of training. The instructor would get the plane in the air then pass you the transmitter. If you got into trouble you would pass the transmitter back (or the instructor would pull it out or your hands.)

The crew I flew with were mostly old school full scale pilots and they carried an old tradition over to the RC side. When you soloed they would cut off part of your shirt tail. I had that piece of shirt tail in my flight box until I got out of the hobby for a while. I almost miss that tradition.
