Default Rocky Mountain Big Bird event

I want to warn everyone that is thinking of coming to the Rocky Mountain Big Bird event in Fort Collins, CO on Aug 15 - 17 that 3D flying will NOT be allowed. I just don't want 3D flyers to waste their time or gas money coming to this event.
If you're not a 3D flyer, or want to come even though 3D flying will not be allowed, by all means come and have fun.

In years past, I've seen guys show up for the event, and then get told that they can't fly 3D. Obviously, they were not happy. With gas prices as high as they are now, I just don't want to see it happen any more.

I've been told by the event director that no 3D is allowed. I asked, What if I am the only one flying? He said he would think about allowing it then. If you want to come to the event because you might be able to fly a little 3D if you are the only one flying, that's up to you.
I know several pilots (including me) that won't be attending this year, so you'll have a better chance at being the only one flying.

The committee in charge of the event is very much against 3D flying. They are completely out of touch with rest of the hobby. Most of them never even fly, or they might fly a couple times a year.

So what do they do? Fly circles, and do aileron rolls. But not too fast of roll, that may be 3d.

Jason will be allowed to fly 3D during the noontime airshow. It's all us regular guys that will not be allowed to fly 3D during the "open" flying times.

It really is a shame.
I tried to reason with them, but they won't listen.

What;s funny is that all the near misses and crashes I have seen out there have all been warbirds being flown by people that should not be flying near large crowds. And I had and continue to have more near misses flying 'the pattern' than I ever have had flying freestyle.
What is happening here is arrogance that unfortunately comes with events that are successful. If it follows suit with that trend, the arrogance will lead to a loss of attendance and an ultimate demise of the event. Colorado already has "warbirds over the rockies" does it really need another circle-flying event? I can't believe that Aeroworks is still going to support this event!

This event gets a lot of spectators (Well, it used to. It probably won't any more.)
What do you think spectators would rather watch: Freestyle / 3D type flying, or IMAC / IMAA type flying?
The committee for this event thinks spectators would prefer to watch IMAC / IMAA type flying. Like I said earlier, they are completely out of touch with reality.

In the past they allowed 3D but not over the runway. You needed to fly to the far side of the runway. They also set times up for the hot dogs to go out and do there thing. As well as war birds. Some of us do not have the skill set to fly 3D and a plane flying 3D in front of us is very distracting. We would like to fly with out the stress of trying to stay out of your way but to allso be able to land with out woring about a 3Der getting in our way.
We should be able to coexiest at a fun fly.
