They already have an event like this (or at least they did last year). It's called Warbirds Over the Rockies. Same field, same club.

This happened at a local club (not my home club, they are fine about 3D). This other club had anti-3D rules. Bottom line is that they were 3D haters. I started hucking, at a very safe distance out...in the pattern....totally in control...and the cd blew a gasket while I was flying...starting arguing with and yelling at my spotter. Boy did I get pissed. Now that made for an unsafe situation. Well I packed up my stuff and went home. I did NOT attend it this year. My buddy told me (my spotter last year) they were begging people to fly this year. Sounds like their rules may have affected them. Times are changing and change is tough for some.

Yup, sounds like the exact same situation. I know most of these guys on the committee, and they are 3D haters. This is why they ban 3D flying, but allow helicopters to fly (see post #53). I also think they are going to find themselves begging for people to fly this year. I know of more than 30 pilots that are not going to attend the event because of the ban on 3D flying. That's just the ones I know of.

Why couldnt the flyers fly together according to fly style. Like 2 or 3 warbirds flying no w than after landing 2 or 3 3d flyers fly together.

Why should we have to? Are you agreeing with these guys who say that it is unsafe to fly together?

No I think its the skill level of the pilots that is most of the problem. Also the spotters need to be more vocal their not there to spectator. I think war bird flyers should go to war bird events. What we need is a 3d event but maybe there isn't enough 3d flyers. One of the problems is that club meetings are dominated by older retired pilots who dont fly 3d. So these are the guys that end up making the rules. I was just trying to figure a solution that would satisfy everyone but I dont think their is one.

As I was gone for the last two years, I was flying in Raleigh, NC with the RDRC guys on a fairly regular basis. Every weekend these guy's all drive hundred+ miles to fly together at different fun fly's. Most fly 3D, the rest fly scale or warbirds, even trainers. They all get along as great friends, because they respect each other! It does not matter what you fly, or how you fly it, as long as your flying!! I don't miss much about the south, other than all my wonderful friends I met along the way

These guys only complain about hovering if there is not 3-4 planes in your face at all times

Yup, that's the way it should be.
I moved here from the south (Georgia) as well, so I know exactly what you're talking about.

Are you guys at LARC stuck on stupid?

Dammit...I invited a bunch of people to attend BBF giving them the impression that they were gonna see a bunch of REAL (3D) flying.

I talked it up...posted flyers...talked it up some more...people changed work schedules to attend..people put off weddings...the list goes on

NOW I feel I need to call them all back, hunt them down to tell them it was all a mistake on my part... Im sure Jason Knoll is great for his 15 minutes, but what will we do the rest of the time? I know...I shall learn how to juggle! That will keep any people I invited entertained for at least another 30 seconds...

Its totally wrong (and stupid) to take away the BIG attraction to the BBF.

The 3D pilots should be shown a great deal more respect...after all, they know how to fly an aircraft post stall, whereas the circle flyers would panic post stall.....who is safer? Survey SAYS 3D pilots!!

Thank you for letting me vent, by the way...I will attend...I will be the one wearing the clown suit with crappy juggling skills!!!! hehe Revolution....you gonna be ashamed of driving there with me? LOL

Hey Zman I'm thinking of putting on an event and their doesn't seem to be any juggling clowns available would you be interested in coming and juggling at noon. Seriously I'm thinking of going maybe Ill be the only one there and they will ask me to come out and fly some 3D with Sean m at noon that is if Sean doesn't get booted in favor of the Zmans juggling act. I just want to see for myself what its all about hopefully get to fly some. Unfortunately I cant fly a strait line so 3d is all I have.

We all could just go to the sod farm, and have our own big bird! Maybe Sean would like to join us?
