First off we would like to thank all of you for your support of Aeroworks and the entire line of QB models. In recent weeks we have had a few of our 150cc airplanes experience wing tube failures. We have investigated the problem and have found that the carbon tubes on the later production runs were made slightly thinner than we specified. Not all tubes are like this but in the interest of safety we are asking that all of our customers flying any 150cc Aeroworks airplane purchased after 7/1/07 to not fly the airplane until we can send the wooden reinforcement inserts out to you. We are waiting on them to arrive from China and expect them in stock in about 2-3 weeks. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and understand your frustration but please do not fly the planes until we can get these inserts to all of you. We will be sending emails and calling every customer who has purchased a 150cc Yak or Extra in the last year to keep all of you up to date. If you have any questions please call Aeroworks our number is 303-371-4222 Mark Dennis Aeroworks

Are you planning on having a different wing tube made?
We took an old 1.5" alluminum spar tube and turned approximately .020" off and inserted into the tube, the inserts are about 6" long and are placed where the wing meets the fuse side. Do you think this is adequate - sounds like the same fix you are presenting ? |

I just got done flying mine in Triple Tree IMAC. Thank God mine stayed together throughout the weekend! Everyone did notice my wings bend in the freestyle routine though. Thanks for the post and phone call. Not many companies would probably do this. Thanks!!! I was planning to try some 3d stuff with this plane this weekend but glad I got the call!

How about having the correct wing tubes made and replacing the tubes that were not manufactured to spec.

If someone was to buy a 150cc Aeroworks plane in the near future, would it come with the correct wing tube?

there aren't to many companies out there that would even admit they made a mistake in manufacturing . You Sir are first class and rise the bar to which all other companies try to match..

ok I got a question the carbon fiber was to make it lighter than the alum.. one. is the carbon one with the insert going to weigh more than a alum one?
And thank you for the concern |

No, a alum tube would still be much heavier than this one. The wood is only half the length of the tube so it only adds about 3-4 oz's and alum one would weigh 8-10 oz's more than the carbon.
