i am the "other" guy rob is building the big yak for... i have seen them fly and they are just huge!!!!!!! i do believe they need some lightening here and there and i trust rob and competition airframes completely! i am excited about my competition airframes (aerotech) 40% yak 54 and rob will certainly have a build thread on this when he starts it!!!!!!! now, nobody assume that all of the parts did not arrive in time, or that the kit was unacceptable in any way when you don't see a build thread for a couple more months..... i have asked rob to build this and have it delivered to me at the nall next year. so i'm sure the thread will not be started for quite some time. i will post as many pics of covering and flying as possible and i will do an over-all review of the plane for everybody here when the time comes!

i have NO history good or bad with john at aerotech.... i DO have a great history with rob joyner and i asked him which giant yak he would suggest and his answer was aerotech's!

There is no excuse for what John has done in the past to his customers and these kids. He does not deserve to be in business and everyone should be encouraged to shop elsewhere.

Has he apologized to anyone or made right on the wrongs he did? Not that I've heard of.

I totally agree with you Craven. His business is no where close to what it was even a year ago. He took a big hit in the pocket with what he has done and sometimes that's what it takes to get someones attention. Rob

I have say that Aerotech defaulted on several dealings with the Flyinggiants, and we will not support that company in any way.

Personally I would not buy anything off of this POS!!! But if you decide to do it anyway here is what I think you should do. Tell him to send you the kit without payment thoroughly check all the components and if they are all there then send him the money. But make sure you only send him a partial payment LOL!!!!

i was actually quite scared of getting an aerotech plane when rob suggested one to me. i have since read very post against john and realize that not very many people are happy with him.. i don't consider this plane anything but a competition airframes product! i don't want to be one of the FG'ers to violate some sort of boycott against aerotech! i just took the advice of my builder and am hopefully going to be satisfied with the results. i am fortunate enough to have the kit sent directly to rob and i will pay for it at that time when all parts are present and in good order! i can't say enough great things about competition airframes!!!!!!!!

The only reason I suggested the Aerotech Yak is that I have build many of them and I haven't heared one bad complaint. Matt asked for a big yak and he asked me what I thought about this yak and I told him the truth. The plane flies good and with the motor he's putting in it, if I get it to 40 lbs or less, it's going to be a rocket ship. Plus he didn't ask me anything about John, he ask me how the plane flew. Also, I'm in business to build airplanes for my customers and I always tell them to talk to people that have had the planes and get their input and Matt did that before he made his final decision. A friend of mine has two of the 40% Yaks and they both fly great....He built one himself and the other he paid some fool to build for him.

thanks for all of your input on each of my plane purchases (builds) rob! i don't have any regrets about following your advise about ANY airframe! i'm looking forward to the build thread this winter!

Planes are only what the builder makes them into......The only thing that the owner of Aerotech did was sell a box of wood and plastic with suggestions on how to build it....the rest is up to the builder. The plane will fly fine. It is a huge plane so like what was said earlier about it not being a rocket is true.

Rob speaks the truth!! If he can get a complete airframe for you and lighten it, go for it! Mine is a little heavy but a great flying plane.
