Default 30% SD Models Yak and DL50 Engine Mounting Question

Has anyone mounted the DL50 to the SD Models (TT TOC)30% Yak. Did you use the Stand-offs. Do you have any pics. How much of the Engine box vertical arms did you cut off? What was your length difference between the left and right arms to compensate for right thrust? The difference in my origional lengths is almost a 1/2". Is that excessive? The example that they give in the instruction manual is only a 1/4" diff.

Can't help you with the YAK but I have one in the Extra 260. As they both use the same instruction manual they should be the same. I used stand-offs to clear the carb and cut the box to the recommended length and angle. Only adjustment I needed when done was up-thrust. Needed quite a bit. You will need to replace the metal angles that came with the plane. Mine cracked top to bottom at the bend after about 3 or 4 flights. I replaced them with 1/8" thick aluminum angle from the LHS. Here's a few pics. Last one is the manual choke setup I did.

Thanks for the info Al. Do you remember how much of the engine box vertical arms you had to cut off to compensate for the stand offs. Also, what's the difference in the length of your arms.

I believe the difference was about 1/4". I just cut the box to get the right length for the cowl which will be different then yours. I did a build thread on the plane with the details on RCUseless if you want to take a look there.
