I received a phone call this morning from SE Unlimited IMAC Pilot Mark McClellan. Mark was on his way to the field to meet up with other IMAC enthusiast for a day of trimming and practice. Mark has always given 200% to our hobby and I would like to thank Mark for his continuing efforts to pushing IMAC forward!
Anyone else out there know of anyone that stands out representing IMAC in a positive way? Lets use this thread to recognize them and their stories. I have intentionally left others out in hopes they can be recognized in a post created for them. A Big Thank You Mark McClellan! Kent Porter

No doubt about it Kent. Mark goes out of his way to help people where ever he goes. I am one of the lucky ones to be a member of CVRC where he is the club president and I have never seen anybody show up at the field needing help that Mark didn't jump in head first to get them in the air. It doesn't matter if they fly a 40% IMAC machine or a small electric park flyer, Mark has always went out of his way to see that they have a good time. I have seen him spend a whole Saturday at the field going from person to person test flying or working on planes while his own set idle. He has been a tremendous help to me trying to get me ready for my first IMAC contest as well. Look out basic guys my first contest will be Camden next month and I have had a couple of great teachers. And I say teachers because I have received some help from ol' Jimmy Who too. He is another one that is more than willing to lend a helping hand. But as you stated, Mark really is a giver and I also say THANK YOU MARK! Thad Last edited by Carolina_Blue; 08-10-2008 at 09:20 PM. |

Gotta give a quick tip of the hat to Ty Lyman from the SE here as well. For the past two years, Ty has gone out of his way to put on the "Frozen Toes Bootcamp" here in Virginia in the early spring. Ty gives up a weekend (plus much more time putting the event together) to teach Aresti, judging criteria, and IMAC flying skills.
Thanks Ty for pushing IMAC forward with better informed pilots & judges. Pete

This is an excellent thread! Most people including the reps/sponsored pilot that do put in lots of their time beyond expectation to sincerely help others, don’t get appreciated as much. If someone helped you and made your day, I think the least one can do is to appreciate that person by contacting their sponsor(s) if they have some because most of the time they have no idea who puts real time with the customers and who doesn’t. I know that those who do it sincerely they have no expectations from those whom they helped but I still think if you are helped out, take a little time and appreciate it by doing something beyond words. Sponsored or non sponsored, make sure you convey to them how much you appreciate what’s done for you.
I always get a kick out of seeing names that actually do help others at the field and take time from their own flying! This is what this hobby needs the most and is the best way of promoting it as well. Great stories! |

When i was decideing to fly IMAC or not, along with several other guys from the area, Josh Bunn came out to our field and put on a question and answer class that included a flying demonstration. He then spent several hours flying some of our planes and helped us learn how to properly trim them. We had great plans on traveling & flying the 3-4 local events in our area this year, but unfortunately 2 of them were cancelled. However, I know i speak for Joe Herbert, Mark Farmer, Johnathan Girrard, myself and also Mike Vickery, ( who passed away 1 week after flying his first event), that we learned ALOT from Josh Bunn. Unfortunately with the price of gas being what is is we only planned on flying the local events this year. Josh even CD'd the first IMAC event at our home club, Rocky Mount NC. In the weeks leading up to that event Josh took the time to call for us on Saturday & Sundays, helping point out areas to improve on .......Thanks,Josh, from all of us.....Gene Poremba
