I requested some suggestions on best servo to use for a 50cc Extra 260 I'm building a while back and was told Hitec 5955 Servos. I'm having a hard time locating them and some sites have listed them as discontinued. Does anyone know where I can find them or what a good equivalent servo would be?
Thanks. |

Just keep your eyes peeled on FG or one of those "other" sites, as guys are getting rid of NIB 5955's all the time. Just make sure you try and "knock 'em down" on their price, as this is a discontinued servo. You should be paying no more than $80 or so for NIB 5955's.
Just my 2 cents... |

The 7955 is advertised to have twice the resolution of the 5955. Same amount of torque. And a couple more features as well. But you need the new programmer to utlilize those features.

I have both and you can feel the difference between the 5955 and 7955 (7955 very smooth on a 14MZ setup), the stall setting is nice so there will be no smoked ones as I have seen a few smoke/melt the bottom at the fet. Mine have been good for me. I bought a couple JR8711 and after only 5 short flights one is hunting on me big time. We are talking ELK here. $260 later and staying with Hitec. Planning on buying a few more 7955 soon.
You won't go wrong with either one. |

If your still looking for the 5955's I just got 4 of them from Troy Built Models so I'm pretty sure they should still have them. I want to say they we $86 a piece.

According to Mike Mayberry from Hitec USA, the 7955's also have a different motor and board than the 5955's. He asked for some input from guys who might be running torque tests if they were going to do them.
He's also indicated that the 7955's can be set with the HFP-10 programmer except for the higher resolution and overload protection features which require that you have the HFP-20 programmer. While the 5955 is a good servo, I see no reason right now to buy them instead of the 7955's unless you can practically steal 'em NIB....

Does the increased resolution come from the servo, or the transmitter?
How exactly does it deliver the extra resolution, and is that with any transmitter, or just some high end transmitters? Thanks Bob

The 7955 is almost the same price. Just go with those.
