I was just wondering how the rest of you guys keep motivated flying. I got bored in the hobby a few years ago but am looking to get back in it. It seems to me I was only excited to keep flying as long as i was buying/building new planes. Once that stopped, nothing to look forward to and it got old.
What keeps you guys going? :7aa:fly biatch... fly!!

I got married. Going to the field is my excuse to get away for awhile.

Flying with friends does it for me, flying can be fun when others are not around but it gets old pretty quick.

Everyone is different but I found the challenge of IMAC flying kept me excited about flying. I still like to just go out and just "throw the sticks around" as a break from precision flying too. Either flying discipline would get old for me without the balance of the other.

Couldn't agree more. You keep setting goals, and keep getting better. It's better than flying circles and deciding you'll do a roll here, and a loop here.

ok, so how do i get into flying IMAC? No one at my club does any comp flying when i was a part of it and they all just sun tan their airplanes. Hell, 99% of the time i was the only one there so maybe thats why it got boring.

Where are you located Sukhoi28?
www.mini-iac.com is a great place to get started in imac. Also check out the competition forums on FG. They contain a wealth of information. IMAC is definitely one of the best things I have done in this hobby(I just started this year). While I most likely won't fly in any more contests this year, I plan on flying in quite a few next year!

Mix it up a little.I fly 3D,Scale heli's ,electrics etc...Flying one style can get extremely boring.I love green M&M's but every now and then...I want a red one (quote from Rodney Carrington).I think some people get burned out so fast because RC has became such a "fast food" market.ARF's out of the wahoo.Building has been scaled way back. That for me is half of the enjoyment but I just dont have the time to build like I used to.Its easy to get in the rut of just buying and flying, but that is when i get burned out to a degree also.If you were the only one at the field, that could be it also..we spend 80% of the time BSing and 20% flying here.

I make sure I have one plane that I can scare myself with if I get bored.
I will pick a maneuver I have seen somewhere, try it on the sim then try it at the field. If the plane makes it i get super excited, if it doesn't then I get some build time on the bench. |

Around here its just as much about socializing as flying, we all hang about do a little flying. Having a new project is always a little kick to get flying. when a small budget it an issue usually means a small project.
It just as much as hanging and having a BBQ as flying and having fun. |
