Default YS 1.10 problem

Hi there. My YS 110fz has a problem that I just Can't figure out. When i have the throttle in a position just above low idle (around 2500rpm) it just dies, it runs at low idle but when i increase throttle a little bit it dies. It runs fine at higher rpm.

I know these engines pretty well so it is not that i turn the low end needle the wrong way or something simple like that. I have tried adjusting the regulator but nothing seems to help.

Anyone have any ideas ?

Check the Valve clearances....when these engines start to run bad its usually the vlave clearances.

Thanks for the tip , I have recently adjusted the valve clearence but i went and checked it anyway and it seems good, but i found that the valve cover gasket was pretty bad! Maybe that is causing the problem ?

Valve cover gaskets are one of the main points of leakage.

Remember, the system doesn't need to just hold some pressure, it has to hold exact pressure. Even the smallest leak will cause an upset.

Mine was doing that also I put in a complete gasket set and problem was solved. All the adjusting in the world only moved the problem to a slightly different rpm.

I changed the valve cover gasket and the problem is still there, but I found that I also have an airleak in the front seal.
Tested with soap to find airleaks and it worked great..

Have you tried screwing the idle needle all the way in?
I had the exact same problem as you and was instructed by Richard Verano (a YS tech rep) to do this and the problem was gone...

OK thanks, I will try that and see what happends. But there must be something wrong it the idle needle has to be all the way in ? I mean it has not been like that all the time so something must have changed...

In that pic, are those cracks in the crankcase casting just behind the regulator housing with a chunk missing...???

It sure looks like there is a crack in it on the pic but its just something from the casting. What looks like a missing piece is the flat surface for the regulator.

Bodywerks is correct! It definitely looks like a major crack in the case just to the right of the bolt. Try putting some of your soapy water on the "crack" and see what happens when you turn the engine over.
