Default p-51 mustang set up

Hi guys I have a 60 size p-51 and have had 6 or so flights with it , now the problem I am having is that when it is trimmed in flight to fly straight and level all looks great but once on the ground the elevators are trimmed down to get this plane flying straight does this mean my tail is too heavy as the c of g is slightly nose heavy? I have tried to give it more down thrust but this has done nothing. should I stuff around anymore or just leave it and fly it as is thanks.

Welcome to war birds!!! Depends how much down there is 1/8 inch is about standard. Does the trim alter much in flight? Is the tank in the nose or on the C G? If it is borderline tail heavy and the tank is in the nose you need to add more down in as the tank empties. If none of these happen, don't worry just fly :-)
I've got a 1/5 Mustang, Spitfire both with 62 CC petrols in, they are all the same.
Hope this helps

Andy

Thank, yes there is only a small amount of down in the elevators and it flys very well and lands well also. Take offs are interesting as the tail gets very light on taxing i gues it is a warbird, I have bent the gear forward a bit which has helped to stop it doing the standard warbird stops with the tail in the air stops at the end of the landing roll.

Why not just put a mix on landing? That way anytime you add the flaps(if you have them) or drop the gear (if you have them) it adds some elevator in the direction you need. If you don't have a landing function on your radio you can use the mix switch if you have one. If you don't have any of those.....then I guess you'll have to just fly through it or manually trim it as it changes.

My elevators are *slightly* down on the .60-sized P51 I fly.

But based on this video, I'm thinking that might be a little too much down :-)
